What is better long or short posts/pages?

Is it better to put lots of content in your posts/pages or make them shorter and do more of them?

I have to kind of giggle to myself when I ask this because when my husband(who is trying to figure out all the "website stuff" told me that I had to write articles and posts and create content. I must admit that I had a small heart attack. Fortunately(i guess) the heart attack was not serious enough to get me time on the injured list so I started writing!! Writing, grammar and compostion were never a strength of mine! So I am humbly begging for help :) I make him proof read but he never gives input--I think he is afraid I will stop writing. The craziest part of this whole sagga is that initailly I really struggled to write anything but now I almost can't stop there is so much info to pass on and not a lot of time to do it, So anyway I would really appreciate any feed back on anything on our site. We have changed the look and we are working on changing the domain name lots still to do but any advice would be appreciated! please go to

Mark Tait, I think you nailed it. I have some short and some rather lengthy posts. I try to mix it up if I can, but it depends on the topic. I read somewhere that longer posts are a very good thing.

Mine posts thus far are quite lengthy, long posts but I've condensed the bulk of, what would have been paragraphs, into a few lines with subtitles, as not to overwhelm the reader. It really depends on the topic/niche and structure of the page. I've had a outside sources read my work because I was worried about composing such lengthy material and they didn't seem to have a problem and stayed engaged the whole time. Although I must add, I don't intend to write long posts all the time.

I thought mine were too short, but was told they were fine. I also prefer to read shorter articles that are to the point. http://kitchen-blessings.com/

thank you for responding. it is good to get other perspectives

Hi.

I would say as long as you're not "padding" just to make your post seem bigger than it needs to be, then you'll be fine.

If it covers the points you need to make, gives enough information without "waffle" (not sure if that's a word outside Scotland), then you'll give your target market what they want.

My only (hopefully) constructive comment - and it's based purely on my personal preference - is some of your paragraphs seem large. The training here advises to break it up into a few lines each.

For me that makes sense, as for some reason, I can read and digest a few lines at a time, more easily and quickly than a large paragraph of text.

All the best, Mark

Mark thank you so much for your time all advice or thoughts are greatly appreciated

thank you. thats kinda what I was thinking. but Iam struggling to figure out how to organize it and make it make easy to follow and have it all make sense.

Short pages. Most people don't want to do alot reading.
