Why Your Niche MATTERS in Affiliate Marketing.

Hey Everyone,

Today, I want to discuss why your niche matters in your affiliate marketing business and your online business in general.

The reality is that you need to enjoy and be enthralled in what you do. Far too often, I see people chasing niche directions based on what they feel is a trendy niche or an opportunity. But in all reality, that is not the surest path to success in a particular business. The path to success within the online world is much more about the passion that you can instill in your business.

There are 5.5 BILLION people online, and this number only continues to grow. There are so many different sources of traffic now, and it's quite distributed. So, when you try to head into a trendy niche, you're not going to be able to sustain it for a long time because you won't share the passion in that niche with your audience.

Choosing the RIGHT Niche.

My recommendation, if you're just starting out, is to choose a niche direction that you are passionate about and interested in. Oftentimes, a hobby can work out really well. As you scale and grow and get the formula for success down, you can expand into many different niches.

We all likely have many different passions or projects that we would want to take on within the online world, and that can happen over time. But when you are deciding on a niche, make sure you're not choosing based on something you think is trending or something someone told you is a good niche. Choose something that you're interested in, something you're passionate about, something you can communicate with people about, and something you enjoy helping others within. This way, you can create a long-term and very successful business.

I hope you've enjoyed this message and that you are following this advice in your online ventures. I'd love your feedback on this particular topic. Jump down in the comments below and let me know what you think.

Are you in a niche that you're passionate about? Have you tried to head in niche directions in the past that you may not have been so passionate about and ran into difficulty? Share your experiences, feedback, and comments. I'd love to hear from you.

Have an awesome week ahead, and we'll be in touch soon!

Thanks for the post, Kyle! I'm BRAND NEW to WA and even the world of starting an online business, so the timing of this post is great for me!
Can I ask a question along those lines? I LOVE golfing, and recently have gone on a few golf vacations. I just launched my website (still going thru training!), and the niche I've chosen is golf vacations. Is that too narrow? Should I zoom out and focus on golf itself, which is obviously broader?
Thank you in advance for all the help!
Trey

I would choose a specific target audience. Who do you think these golf vacations would suit? Who would benefit most from what you have to offer?

You may ask yourself: I want to help people with ____________________ ?

Running through the Niche Finder, I came across

Family Golf Vacations
Couples Golf Vacations
Golf and Spa Vacations
Golf and Wine Vacations
Beach Golf Vacations
Golf Resorts
Golf and Adventure Vacations
Golf and Cultural Vacations
Golf and Shopping Vacations
Golf and Gourmet Vacations

And to give you ideas.

I hope this helps.

Abie

Thank you, Abie. This is great food for thought. I'll think it over, then make a decision and move forward. Thank you again for your insight and taking the time. I really appreciate it!

No problem. With each of these, you can further niche down, for example:

Family Golf Vacations:

Family-Friendly Golf Resorts
Golf Lessons for Families
Golf Equipment for Kids and Families
Golf Travel Packages for Families
Golf Courses with Family Activities
Golf Fitness Programs for Families
Golf Apparel for Families
Golf Tournaments for Families
Golf Cart Rentals for Families
Golf Vacation Planning Services

There are plenty of opportunities to leverage here.

As noted in Kyle's blog post, what is more important is choosing a niche topic you're genuinely interested in, which would make a massive difference in getting content to flow naturally.

All the best.

I wish you well.

Oh yes, Kyle! This is essential if you're going to work for yourself and live your ideal life! That's the whole point of quitting the 9-5 Grind, isn't it? I actually dream posts for my websites.......which makes creating such a joy! Every day is about creating and now we have SO many tools to help us do this quickly!!

My niches are my homes - real estate on the Internet. So, I'm passionate about digital nomads/remote workers; spiritual strategies for Internet biz; becoming a millionaire/acquiring a millionaire mindset; and living my first-hand life unswervingly devoted to my creativity, my judgements and my thoughts!

Buddha, my hero, 3,000 years ago, said:

'What you think, you become. What you feel, you attract. What you imagine, you create.'

It's magical!!

See you for beer!

It is definitely essential for that. Too many times I see people chasing trends, versus chasing their passion. The internet offers us the luxury of heading into any direction we want with our business and niche, and because of this we can do something that we love, and build a successful business around it.

Love that quote as well btw, it sounds like you have found your true passions within the online world and I look forward to seeing you continue to thrive in the years ahead!

Hi Kyle,
Thanks so much for your blessings and wishes. Indeed, I am thrilled doing what I do: It's my time now after a lifetime of serving others! Each day is an almost endless creative event for me, and I think my audiences are beginning to realise that we have a moral duty to be happy!! That way, we can optimise our performance and carry people along on our wave!

Great motivation!!

Hi Kyle:

Great advice about choosing a niche that we're passionate about versus just jumping in the game because someone else thinks it's a great idea.

Of course we can learn about a niche we have no previous knowledge of and become an expert. The downside is sometimes it's a drag and can become discouraging. Choosing something we're excited about to start out with can motivate us to explore further.

I think a lot of it is perspective. A lot of people start a business online simply because they want to "earn money", doesn't matter what or how that happens.

When people find out that they can also earn money by doing something that they love, that really changes the game for them. We can head in any direction that you want as marketers, and build a fledging business....and through time, many directions with many businesses. That is the beauty of operating online. :)

Thank you Kyle for this video I has helped me in redirecting my niche to something I am passionate about like my dog, instead of still being undecided and trying to find something to build a website on. She is a German Shepherd Jack Russell Terrier mix who was abandoned as a pup. My husband found her at his friend's house and took her to the vet. They said she was 4 weeks old. So, learning and experiencing life with her would be something I am passionate about sharing with others. Thank you.

Great to hear, that sounds like a true passion of yours and a natural fit. You can also have the luxury of sharing personal stories as well within this niche, so that is great!

I look forward to seeing your niche business continue to take shape, and do keep us updated as you do move forward. :)

My first niche was trending at the time of The Covid Lockdown and I jumped on board because I thought it had potential. It probably had, and still does have potential, but the reality is that I couldn't get enthusiastic about it.
And then after careful consideration, I asked myself what subjects people came to me to seek advice about. There was one stand-out subject and I have never regretted promoting it. And although I can give advice based on experience, I'm still learning every day, so it's a win-win situation.

That is what we call a fleeting, or a trendy niche. Something that has a lot of interest over a short period of time, sometimes months or in that case a few years. I remember the demand for "masks" was so massive, and people got really creative with their marketing around that...or things to do during covid, travelling on covid, etc.

But those are also things that you could have targeted within much more evergreen niches (like travel).

Glad you chose YOUR niche Michael, sounds like you are onto a fun project and one that has staying power and that will retain your interest for some time!
