How Mr. Beast Became the Most Successful Youtuber Ever
MrBeast is a name that we all have probably heard of, whether you watch his videos or not. He is probably the most famous YouTuber or all time, and certainly the highest paid one. He makes millions of dollars ever video he creates on Youtube through ad revenue and sponsorship.
But how did this down to earth (and some would say geeky) dude turn himself into such a massive profit engine. How did Mr. Beast come to be THE BEAST of Youtube?
I recently watch a YouTube video, outlining his story where he shares how he can to be such a Youtube mogul, and he shares the exact process that go him there.
I spent some time going through this, and document the biggest take aways from this and if you are currently an aspiring Youtuber, or an already successful one, I think there is a lot we can learn from Mr. Beasts story. And now I want to share these with you.
Humble Beginnings => YouTube Obsession.
As a teenager with a hand-me-down laptop and no editing skills, MrBeast’s early videos were far from perfect. In fact, they were low quality at best, and silly.
In fact, here is MrBeast's very first video from 9 years ago.
His passion for creating content was so strong that, even though he made videos for years without making any money, he never stopped.
With every video, no matter how rough it was, he marched on. But with every video he incrementally got a little better.
He Continued to Grinding It Out Through the Struggle
In the beginning, earnings were scarce to say the least. He barely noticed $100 after hundreds of videos.
His consistent effort though led him to mastering the craft, improving his video quality as technology advanced, and creating more interesting content.
When you create content and get it out there, naturally you get feedback from your audience so you start to learn what people like, and what they don't like.
This period of trial and error was a vital part of his journey, as it is with every entrepreneur. It showed that hard work and persistence pays off, and so does "time". Something that I allude to very often, that most people quit prior to achieving success.
Could you imagine if MrBeast quit on his 99th video? He is now worth $1 BILLION!
I create a list of 10 take-aways that I think everyone will find valuable, whether you are currently a video creator on youtube, whether you plan on moving into that space, or just want to learn what the journey within the entrepreneurial world looks like for someone that started with NOTHING, and went to become a billionaire as a result of becoming a Youtube sensation.
Top 10 Takeaways from MrBeast’s Journey

He is a reminder of what can be achieved with hard work, creative risk-taking, and a by being generous. His story shows that success comes from being true to yourself and relentlessly chasing your dream, no matter how wild it might seem.
In a world full of fleeting trends, distractions, shiny objects aplenty, MrBeast proves that with genuine passion and the support of a community, you can truly change the world.
Now get out there and become the next MrBeast!

Good morning Kyle,
Thank you for the very interesting and motivating blog post, it's appreciated.
I've heard lots about Mr Beast, but I don't think I have ever really watched any of his videos. I must admit my first saw a picture of Mr Beast, I thought he was going to look more beastly than what he does, as the name suggests!! I don't know where the name came from! The funny part is, with a name like that, it doesn't draw me to go to his channel, but it is absolutely amazing what he has achieved!
I just asked ChatGPT this question.
Why is Mr beast on YouTube called Mr beast?
"MrBeast, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, got the name "MrBeast" when he was a teenager. He started his YouTube channel in 2012 at the age of 13, and “MrBeast6000” was just a cool-sounding gamer tag at the time — one of those names that sounds bold or powerful, like something you'd use in a video game.
Eventually, he dropped the "6000" and just became known as MrBeast. It wasn’t really meant to have a deep meaning — it just stuck, and as his channel grew, the name became iconic.
Kind of funny how a random gamer handle turned into a global brand, right?"
The great thing is, I believe we can learn so much from these people who started in such a humble way. Sometimes it's hard to imagine how successful people started, but everyone started somewhere.
I like the key takeaway's, Kyle, especially the "start small and dream big" and "leveraging failures." And of course, I'm grinding on almost a daily basis, I am talking about grinding tree stumps now and getting to the root of the problem!!!😄
Have a great day.
Roy
We can learn a lot from anyone that has been there and done that, not just about their process and precisely what they did to get there, but the persistence that is required to achieve any high level of success.
Every day is a grind in business, and some days you achieve great results, others you see a lot of failures which tend to be learning experiences. ;)
Yes, I agree more, Kyle, it's good to learn from people who have been there and done that! Every successful Internet marketer that I know has been persistent and has not let failure hold them back.
It's funny how we sometimes have those days when things just do not go right and other days we fly!
Have a great day.
Roy
Thanks for this article Kyle! I find these stories of grit and determination inspiring. It reminds me of Eric Barone's story, creator of the game Stardew Valley. He worked on that game until he hated it, but didn't realize he was so close to the finish line until a couple of month before its release. I keep these stories in mind as I work on getting up and running with a new YT channel.
Yeah, they are always inspiring and there are commonalities between any successful entrepreneur. We typically see them at the top of their game, but forget there was a significant process and trials and tribulations that got them there.
Really cool to hear about the story of Eric Barone's as well, I will check it out.
I look forward to seeing your Youtube channel grow.
PS. It was nice seeing you in chat earlier, it is great to have you back! :)
I don't know if I'll ever become Mr. Beast, although I do see the value of YouTube and have for a long time. Based on the 10 steps you posted. I'm straddling between steps 2 & 3. He started 9 years ago?! Yikes! I started 10 years ago but it's only been in the past few months that I've become more serious about making quality videos and shorts. His story is inspiring nonetheless even though I've never heard of him. I'll look more into him. Thanks for posting.
Bob
I'm taking comfort from you never having heard of him :) Thought I was outta touch with the YT generation lol.
Yeah, the key is to look forward and not back. Start taking those daily steps today towards your success down the road. That is how it happens. This can apply to any niche, and any strategy...all of which you can learn, discuss and build with here at WA. ;)
This is such a great blessing story of Jimmy's. He is such a wonderful person. It makes me more happy and motivated to help others in need. Verry happy he is enjoying what he does on YouTube. I'll definitely be watching more of his videos. This is a great examble of what all communities around the world should do to help people. It would be a lot better place for people. Just want to say thank you very much Kyle for sharing Jimmy's inspiring story. Makes me very happy and excited.
He is an awesome dude, and out of all the crap that is on Youtube, it is one of the things that I don't mind my daughter's watching. It is fun, engaging, and altruistic. ..that has been his magic formula and he will attest to that.
That is what we aim to do here within WA, and with our updates that are coming up next month to the platform, I think that is going to become more evident than ever.

Some great tips and an interesting character.
I haven't watched his videos but I recently listened to an audio book - The YouTube Formula by Derral Eves with the foreword by Mr Beast (Jimmy Donaldson)
The book uses Mr Beast as an example of growing a channel. It's a long book (10+ hours) but well worth listening to - plenty of takeaway nuggets.
Excellent, I haven't heard fo that but I will definitely check it out. You should take a moment to watch the documentary style video I provided above, it is very insightful. :)
