How I Created a Titanic Chronology Diagram With AI
Welcome to another AI strategy session. Today, I'm showing you how to create a visual diagram using AI—a powerful tool for sharing content on your website, social media, or even within your training programs. This technique is perfect for turning complex ideas into clear visuals.
Why Use Diagrams?
Visual diagrams make information easier to understand. Recently, I watched Titanic with my family, and my youngest daughter had endless questions. To help her visualize the sequence of events from the ship’s encounter with the iceberg to its sinking, I decided to create a timeline diagram of the Titanic.
The Process I Used to Create This IMage
I used the ChatGPT-4o model ( uses 4o image gen model), which excels at producing high-quality visuals with inline text and allows for easy edits. Here’s how I did it:
Initial Prompt:
I started with a simple prompt asking the AI to "create a diagram explaining the chronology of the Titanic sailing and sinking." This first version produced an accurate timeline with basic details (e.g., departure from Southampton, collision with an iceberg, lifeboat boarding, and sinking).
- Feedback & Refinement: I noted that while the initial diagram was accurate, it was missing some details like specific dates and representative imagery. So, I provided feedback to the AI:
- Include exact dates alongside the times.
- Add images to better illustrate key events (for example, an iceberg image for the collision).
- Adjust the format to match the dimensions needed for my website or social media.
- Final Diagram: The refined version now showed a clear, chronological timeline:This version was much more specific and visually appealing, proving that AI plus your creative input produces better results than using AI alone.
- April 10, 1912, 12:00 PM: Titanic departs Southampton.
- April 14, 1912, 11:40 PM: Titanic collides with an iceberg.
- April 15, 1912, 12:05 AM: Order given to board lifeboats.
- April 15, 1912, 2:20 AM: Titanic sinks.
Key Takeaways
- Iterative Design: Don’t expect perfection on the first try. Use your feedback to refine the output until it meets your needs.
- Efficiency: AI tools allow you to quickly prototype designs without needing to invest time and resources in full-scale development immediately.
- Versatility: This technique isn’t limited to historical timelines. You can adapt it for diagrams related to almost any topic—whether for training, marketing, or social media content.
This hack is ready for showtime on your website or social media channels. It’s unique, efficient, and tailored to your creative vision. I hope you find this strategy as helpful as I did. I would love to hear what you think in the comments.

This is amazing! It's exciting to see all the possibilities of what can be created with AI. Many people that I talk to seem to be afraid of using AI when I try to tell them how great it is. It's like they fear if they use it then they will be one step closer to Terminator. 😂
Totally, these are exciting times. And the thing is, it is only going to get better as time goes on (and fast). The trillionaire tech companies are in an AI race right now and it is evolving and improving at a breakneck speed.
And yes, very few people are really engaging with AI and it's full potential unfortunately...and they may be left in the dust as a result. I always say YOU + AI is better than just YOU. :)
I create all my feature images with ChatGPT. I love it, and it has become progressively better with time.
Awesome, it is great for that as well. And that is the thing about GPT and all AI platforms, they are only getting better with time and as a result, we all continue to get better. :)
Yeah, with paid version ChatGPT doing very well all things and tasks. It shows how AI became very powerful with few years.
Yeah, the evolution of AI and the capabilities of it is happening faster than ever as the richest companies in the world continue to invest into the tech. :)
A great example Kyle. Thiking of a chronology for Titanic was out of the box thinking!
ChatGPT has been my favorite always.I plan to use it to create my logo and images as needed.
My problem is how to upload them from ChatGPT.
Yeah, I am a big proponent of OpenAI, but I also use several other platforms as well. The newest versions (paid) of Gemini are quite good, and Grok is also a good option as well.
Right now, GPT is progressing the quickest...but that isn't coming without the odd bug.
Great to hear. Technology is moving quick, that same thing used to take many hours sometimes days to day. That is significant time savings...and also significant for what you can accomplish now.

Good morning Kyle,
That's a great example of how to utilise AI and also a real time saver.
Out of interest, did you check the info out, or perhaps you already knew the dates?
Am I right in saying that AI is getting more accurate?
I was just playing around with ChatGPT a few days ago and discovered that I can make YouTube thumbnails, which I would normally make him Canva. At least all these thumbnails are going to be totally unique.
I feel a blog post coming on about AI!
Have a great day.
Roy
It knew the dates. AI is very accurate, as accurate as any website you can find online, and you can leverage the "web" with it's creation so it will cross reference. It is way more accurate than any other data source you can find online.
I look forward to hearing about your blog post :)
