About Kismet12
Joined November 2016
My name is Barbara Henley,
I am a grandmother with three grown children and six grandchildren ranging in age from 8 years to 23 years old. You know women often start a bio out by stating just what I did, but you know what? Especially with me being a single mom for over 40 years, it is a HUGE achievement! I am proud of my children and grandchildren and always like to think I had something to do with how they turned out, but in all reality that achievement belongs to them.

I am an artist, although I have kind of slacked off on that the last couple of years. I am an avid reader-never go anywhere without my Kindle!

I have lived on a fixed income since 1999 and to be honest, can no longer survive this way.

I recently bought a bicycle, even though it will probably get stored for the winter, I love to cycle. I am a lot shakier than expected on it but hope that changes with more practice.

Thanks for the add Barbara and you are right to mention that your are a proud Grandmother (and mother too it sounds like)...It is not an easy thing to raise kids (been there done that hehe)...

Since you have been living on a fixed income for a number of years, I would imagine that you would like to create another source of income, it makes sense...

You are in luck...

This is the place where with consistent effort and time you can supplement your income a lot. This stuff really works and the market is wide open...

Age, gender, marital status, background does not matter. There are certain requisites to follow that will allow you to have success with online marketing...

You have been here a few months already, and the going is tough, especially when starting out (I was a real newbie at a lot of this stuff), but it does get easier...

If you can tap into that same resolve you used while raising the family (no quit, always engaged, having passion) you will be able to do this...

Best of luck and real nice to meet you here!

Cheers!

Dave,
Thanks for the pep talk. Yes, you do start to wonder what you are doing wrong, when after 2 1/2 months you are still spinning your wheels. My woodshop site has got me burning to start building some projects, that once I have the materials and build them, I can sell them locally. Will have to start with small things that don't take a lot of material to begin with, like a step stool, or garden bench.
I spent every 'spare' cent I had this month buying the lumber to put up shelves and workbench in my garage. Have them built, bought a used table saw with built in router, that I need to learn how to use. Would love to get my hands on a drill press and band saw, but even used those are high ticket items, so I use my drill and jig saw. Monday, I will buy the materials to build my first project or two and I am really excited. Will have to take pictures or video of me building them.
I even used a couple of computer power sources and have strung multiple strings of LED lighting above my work bench and up on the ceiling of my garage (a very small single garage with 8 ft ceilings).

Barbara, nice to hear from you. I look forward to getting to know you my new WA friend.

I took a brief look at your site. I don't think you need the calendar unless you have a real reason for it. Being there and where it is, interrupts getting to your content. But you are starting with colour and that is really good.

I know what you mean about that bike!

Work hard, have some fun and don’t forget to ask questions.

A very nice boss once told me, ‘Helen, when you ask a silly question everyone else breathes a collective sigh of relief because they don’t have to!’ And that is so true. No question is silly so ask away.

If I can’t help I might be able to point you in the right direction.

Now let us keep in touch.

Ciao
Helen

I recently removed a calendar for that reason, but I have several websites so I'm not sure which one you are talking about.
Some of the themes the calendar adds to the looks of your page and then, like the one you probably saw, just puts it in the way of the content. I will remove the other calendars too because I am trying to settle all of them onto one theme to make it easier for me to manage them.
Thank you for the feedback, that was a spot-on observation. I have been real sick, so am only able to spend a few minutes at a time working on them, I'll sure be glad when I am feeling better because I have all these ideas jumping around in my head and can do nothing about them.
Hope you have a great week here now that the holidays are done.

It was I love all books and it looks like you moved it to the bottom. Why do you want a calendar in anyway?

Have you looked at my site yet. I did my book lists in a Table. That sort of tightens it up. If you want to and don't know how to use tables just ask me what to do.

Hope you feel better soon.

We are building a house out of as much 'natural' materials as possible. It is a strawbale one and 90% of the timber is hard wood eucalyptus from our site.

I did notice you have a few hiccups in words you used. Don't worry I am always doing this so that's perhaps why I noticed this. Have an independent person read them over for you.

Hi, Kismet12, Welcome to WA. I'm sure we can find enough people her to motivate you to stop slacking on your passions/dreams.

You don have to survive that way, by that I mean living on a fixed income. If you get mad enough you'll do something about it, when you start you'll also notice a difference and want to do more.

thank you for following me, I'll follow you back see if how we can help each other.

God bless

I am actually working very hard, and I know I will make it :) I am reorganizing my website so a lot of my work is behind the scenes, but I think all the work will pan out for the better.
Thank you for your kind words of encouragement.
I spent all day today putting up lights all around my house. I am 60 years old and never have I had lights around my house, it wasn't something my Mom and Dad ever did. I even put up a Christmas tree, even though my grandson and I are the only ones that will see it. It felt good.

Hello Kismet. It is a pleasure to meet you. Sounds like we have a few things in common. I too took a few years off from creating art. Life can sure get in the way if you let it! Slowly getting back into creating and love WA! I am learning something every day and meeting so many wonderful people. I am still a newbie, but as I said, learning more every day. Do not be afraid to ask questions, follow the training, and enjoy yourself.
Best wishes

Hi there,
Thanks for reading my blog on pet insurance and going to the site to apply. I believe you can fill in the other pet names later. You get the discount from the vet directly, you do not have to turn in vet bills to them. Perhaps you could try another form of payment? Sorry you are having a problem.

Hi, Looks like you have just joined. Welcome. I understand a fixed inadequate income. that is why I am here. I can tell you things look difficult but if you will SIMPLY go through the lessons you will find great satisfaction in what you can learn. Jay has a live class every Friday as well. There will always be more to learn so just enjoy your road here. If you are an artist you can channel some of your talent to writing. It is getting to be fun. I carve and make concrete garden art.

Thanks,
Did I already get t see your website so I can add it to my G+ collection of great websites, hopefully eventually it will give everyone a little more exposure.
I am sticking to the lessons, although slower than when I first started because I do have my website up and running now, so I keep tweaking it and thinking about adding more post/pages, I really don't see the difference between the two as both cause a new page to be made.

Thank you. I am following my training and as far as my website, I am having nothing but difficulties. I have switched themes 4 times, but none of them do what they say they will do! When I put in my link from Amazon, they all just show up as a single column even though I have the setting for 5 columns! I am now going to go back in and remove ALL links and try to start over.
They want me to add by going to my page where I added my profile pictures, but those don't allow me to link them with Amazon.
Extremely frustrated here!!!

So sorry you are having problems. I don't understand the problem with the Amazon links. Are you talking about the widgets in the sidebar? If you are speaking of your profile here in WA, no we can not use any links from our profile message. This helps to keep spam out of the community! Let me know your exact problem and I will try to help. Waiting for your reply! Linda

Thanks for trying, but it is with the design of my website and allowing me to post my links in rows and columns instead of willy-nilly.

There are plugins to help with this, for columns and such. I myself do not know of the correct one you need, but you should go to the Live Chat on the left. Ask the WA members that are there, surely you will find the answer. If not, I am including some answers from members that might help. Hope this helps!

Thanks, I am just now discovering plug-ins to help with a contact box. I will explore more. It is getting there, but other sites I have reviewed look so much nicer and everything fits where it should.

Hi, don't worry you will get it all together. The more you follow your lessons the more it will develop. If you see something someone else is doing, if you can't figure it out, ask them. Wishing you a happy holiday season!

Hello Kismet12, it is a pleasure to have you in my network and mine in yours. I'm in my early 70's, have six children adult children and nine grandchildren with the first two grands in college.
I am a lawyer but since I moved to the US from Nigeria I cannot practice law here because I do not want to do any serious studies any more. I love reading for information and pleasure and being engaged in church activities. I spend a lot of time with my grandkids and love walking at least 30 minutes daily.
Welcome to Wealthy Affiliate community and God bless very richly.
Cheers,
Juliet.

That is really unfortunate that you are unable to practice here, but hopefully, wealthy affiliates can surpass what you may have earned otherwise.

Thank you, Marcel! Yes, there is never a lack of information that is for sure. Now I just hope I retain everything I need to, but more than that put everything I have learned into action.

I still don't understand why my site can't be found on Google-even when I give it the complete address. But if I put the complete address up above it does go right to it.

I imagine it will work itself out eventually :)

I hope things are going well. I know you are getting rolling within the training and there is ONE thing that always tends to confuse people and that is "what is my niche?".

I know, same thing happened to me when I started.

I just wanted to reach out and let you know that I am here if you ever want to run any niche "ideas" by me or you have any questions about finding your niche.

Get back to me when you get the chance! :)

Vince, thank you for your pleasant messages, they are very much appreciated.
I think I would like to do books for my niche but am worried it might be too broad.
There are a lot of genres in books, but I tend to read a very wide variety, even if I do have favorites among them.
I have a Kindle paperwhite and read between 5 and 10 books a week, depending on how long each one is.
I had also thought of using Kindle as my niche, but am afraid it is too narrow.
Anyway, that's what has been going on in my head for the last two days.

Ok good. You can pretty much build a site around any topic if you just target in a way that makes business sense.

So, I'm a big fan of info-driven niches. I know a lot of people think products right away. But keep in mind that WA mainly teaches you how to build a money-making website through providing valuable content for people to find and read within search engines. Think niches that have a lot of topics to write about and keywords to target. As you bring in traffic, there is always opportunity to monetize. People worry about that part way too soon in my opinion.

Personal development is good. Health/fitness is always going to be good, but the key is to narrow it down. Find a fad, trend, or specific keywords within the niche to target. For an example, you could do a blog post on "intermittent fasting" which is an upcoming trend in the fitness world, which I'm sure is getting a lot of searches online.

Make sense?
