Well, Isn't This Embarrassing?!
I have been online for over 4 years researching online businesses and how to create them. I have a insatiable thirst for knowledge so it was actually a hobby for me and I have met some awesome people along the way.
So you ask, "What is so embarrassing?"
Well, I actually joined Wealthy Affiliate over a year ago, October 16, 2012 to be exact. I signed up for the free membership to see what WA was all about and to see if it was legit. To be honest, I just scanned the website. Never once do I remember starting the free classes offered here. I thought I knew my stuff and I certainly did not want to spend the extra money on a premium membership. It seemed as every online program or product wanted my money. Obviously, I did not stay long enough to learn what WA was all about.
My purpose of this post is to warn the WA Community that most of our members have tried almost everything out there (shiny object syndrome) before coming to us. Be sure to use your "Custom Follow Up Sequence". It could make all the difference on whether someone stays or leaves Wealthy Affiliate. Also, please be sincere and take someone under your wing if you see that they are struggling. Being a mentor can actually give you more gratification than having a financially successful business.
Now, into my 5th year online, I need to look no further. I finally found my home! I know I have ultimately made the right decision to stay here at Wealthy Affiliate!
To those still searching....the grass is not always greener on the other side of the fence.
Cheers,
Kimmi

Thanks for the post. I actually did the same thing. Signed up, took a glance and did not return for 4 months. I even spent money on another coaching program which i wound up getting the money back for because the person did not fulfill anything on his end. I am glad i came back here. There is so much in internet marketing to learn. I try learning every day something new. Thanks for the reminder.
Great post, you have taken the words out of my mouth. I failed to see the value ~ but I didn't quit! I definitely see it now and yes we are home to stay. Thanks
Good point Kim, the grass in not always greener. Especially when it comes to all those programmes out there about making easy money online. They are such an awful draw card, but when you don't have a clue about the internet, so much looks good.
Glad you found your way "home".
Hey Kim,
Your story is like many folks who come to WA and really miss out because they do not get started and get involved within the training and community.
I'm glad that you've come back and that you are already getting involved! Great suggestion too on using the Custom Follow-up Sequence to help welcome people that you invited to WA. For anyone interested in learning about this, check out Phase 5 Lesson 8 in Affiliate Bootcamp here:

Great post Kim, love the picture :)

I love this post, Kim! I definitely know what you mean. I am not just in it for the money but also for the personal satisfaction I feel when I help other people as well with my content.
I had encountered WA long time ago -- I think they must have been really new. However I was really busy with brick and mortar at the time and it totally consumed my energies and hours -- and at the time it just did not make that much of an impression on me -- nothing compelled me to take it on.
Even way back then there were so many sites making claims that seemed too good to be true, I was skeptical, and WA was not particularly standing out, in fact to me it seemed amateurish.
I probably intended to come back to see if they lasted more than a year or two -- and lost their bookmark and then just like so many things in life -- forgot about it. Being so long ago I don't remember all the details -- but I don't think you could get access without paying, so I probably only saw the landing page and sales promo.
So now WA has been around for many years -- a good selling point in and of itself. Also WA has a better framework these days (prettier image -- it presents itself much better) and then the "come in and stay a while" is helpful to get you in the door to take a look -- but you still need to have the time available to work with it.
So, in my case, I just happened to rediscover it when I do have more ability to actually take it and run (use it).
Wayne Dyer likes to say "when the student is ready, the teacher will appear", seems to fit in some of these cases mentioned in this thread!
