Back After More Than One Year Away From Wealthy Affiliate
Hi, Wealthy Affiliate members! I'm finally back after a long time. My last post here was on July 11, 2021, more than a year ago. So many things have happened since then, and I am excited to make a return to a more active role in the online business world.
Confidence And Energy
So why was I inactive for so long? Around June last year, I got a job offer at Concierge Auctions (now Sotheby's Concierge Auctions) to sell luxury real estate at auction. My role involves getting sent on multiple-week-long assignments where I hold open houses, tour people, and make sales calls to ultimately register a field of bidders.
It's still unbelievable that the company brought someone like me on board. I was 18 at the time and had no experience. My inexperience was the reason I had been away for so long.
I found myself in a situation where I had to amass confidence and sales skills quickly. I was way out of my comfort zone. My introverted nature had difficulty dealing with things like calling and meeting strangers.
While it was easy for many of my colleagues to call 10-20 people daily, it was a big struggle for me. It took so much out of me that I didn't have the energy to continue blogging in my afterhours. Free time was rare in the first place anyway, with my job.
After a year of being a Project Manager for Sotheby's Concierge Auctions, I finally have a good grasp of what I'm supposed to be doing. The confidence to cold call someone is there now, and I've become much better at selling our auction opportunities.
I still have a lot of room to improve, but the activities I perform in my job are no longer way outside my comfort box.
Since it no longer takes all my willpower to call one person, I now have the energy to side hustle again. Having side hustles and passive income is also crucial to creating the life I want.
And thus, after a whole year, I'm back to continue blogging and growing online businesses.
How Working In Luxury Real Estate Helped Me
Working in luxury real estate and, more specifically, for a mid-size company has helped me unlock different perspectives on building online businesses.
What I love about working at Sotheby's Concierge Auctions is it's a company that's not so big that it's bureaucratic but big enough that it has a good sense of how to perform successfully in the industry.
Working at the company has helped me significantly in terms of teaching me skills of how I would run a business.
In relation to online businesses, seeing our marketing materials and the standard of service we are held to has opened my eyes to how I want my businesses to operate and present themselves.
Previously, I had been trapped in the mindset of wanting money. We all want money, but it's easy to tell if something is just a money grab.
A top real estate agent in San Diego said it very well. If your main focus is money, you're going to reek of "commission breath." In real estate, you're making money if your clients make money. To succeed in real estate, the people who work with you must feel good about working with you.
Many of my failed blogs consisted of junk posts solely thrown out there with the hope that they'll get views and earn money. After more than a year away from Wealthy Affiliate and seeing my websites with fresh eyes, it's clear my blogs need to be of much higher quality.
And to create something of higher quality starts with the intention of wanting the best for my readers at the foremost of my thoughts.
Ready To Work Hard And Commit
Being around my co-workers at Sotheby's Concierge Auctions and the high-net-worth individuals I deal with often has changed me. Most people I work with are super hard workers (borderline workaholic occasionally), which has inspired me to work much harder than before.
And when that inspiration is combined with the new energy and confidence I gained by getting out of my comfort zone, I'm ready to jump back into my online business world and create the success I dreamed of so long ago.
I will keep everyone updated!

Hi Kevin, it's so great to have you back. It's amazing all that can happen in just one year, right?
Many lessons learned, and now a great mindset for your online business.
Like any business, it takes time to build and grow. And the best way to do that is to put your audience first and strive to help them with their problems. If you focus on that first, the money will follow.
Wishing you well, and let me know if you need any help.
Cheers,
Suzanne
