The #1 Reason Why Newbie Affiliate Marketers Fail

My first website at WA failed.

At its height, the site makes $750+ per month. But it still fails.

It is a failure and inevitably so.

I consider myself lucky to make any money at all.

Why?

Because my site lacks focus.

It tried to be so many thing to so many people.

Meditation, hypnosis, supplements, essential oils, and so on.

And along my journey at WA, I saw many marketers repeat the same mistake.

They try to promote everything the roof. Or products that are more 'profitable'.

But here's the thing.

A site that tries to be something to everyone lacks authority.

It will not rank well on Google. And readers might not trust the content.

Since then, I created several more websites, with one bearing better results than others.

And guess what, that site is consistent and focused in its offerings.

I applied my lessons in my freelance content writing career.

I started writing various topics to build my portfolio.

Then, I started niching myself into what I'm good at -- technology. And increases my rate.

That's how I establish my presence on Upwork in the past 7 years.

What I've learned at WA helps my freelancing business, and vice versa.

So, stop chasing shiny objects. That's the #1 pitfall for affliate marketers.

Here's how I narrow my service offering, and expand my skills.

The same way you can be laser-focus when building your affliate marketing business.

Hope it helps.

Cheers,
Kenny.

Kenny,

Thanks for sharing your experiences, challenges and tips related to building a niche.
I did the exact same thing when I started my website last year.
Through trial and error, things begin to click when you start narrowing down a niche.
To me, it is the perfect marriage of art and science.

You're welcome, Rachele. Glad you figured that out fast. Great job, and looking forward to your success.

Thanks for your encouragement, Kenny.

Well said Kenny, spreading ourselves too thin when we start out and not focusing on a micro-niche is something many of us have done I'm sure!!

It's certainly a lot harder to become an authority this way!

But, it is all down to the learning process in my opinion!

Thanks for the share my friend and I wish you much continued success in all that you do! :-)

Most of us went down that path. Thanks and all the best to you, Jessie.

You're most welcome my friend and much appreciated!

Good morning Kenny From Southern California, it is morning for me anyway as I write this.

Thanks for sharing and the old school PDF, I got stacks of books with writing and doodling in them.

Trying to sit still for 30 minutes and work on one topic is a big challange for me, but I see how chasing other things is not helping. However I noticed that my brain is now wired in that habit and slowly been working on changing that.

Find a weakness, make it a strength or get to a place to where I can hire that out to someone else.

Great post to start my morning with here at WA.

Thanks again.

Good morning, Super David Scott.

It's hard for me to focus too. But I forced myself to write at least 1 hour before taking a break.

Annoying bad habits we have. Lol.

All the best to you !

Thank you for the insights. This was a timely read:-)
