Your Attention To Detail Matters
"How you do anything is how you everything."
That is something that my high school coach would often tell me and my team at football and track practice. I had the same coach for both sports so I would see this guy quite often. That saying, How you do anything is how you do everything, stuck with me all through my adulthood up until now.
The saying suggests that what ever habits that you have in one area in life, you will inevitably repeat those same habits in other areas of life. By nature, we as humans are creatures of habits and it is not hard for us to gain a rhythm to rinse and repeat.
I honestly did not understand what my coach was trying to say for a long time. I understood the lesson but not the core of the words. What it really means is that you must pay attention to the small details of your actions. Everything matters. Even elements that we think are irrelevant and insignificant, everything matters in life.
For example, when I was in the Navy, they would teach us attention to detail. We would have to fold out socks properly in the shape of a flag, shine our boots to perfection, and make sure there wasn't one piece of lent on our uniforms.

Being in the military taught me that the little things matter, and if you apply discipline in one area, it is much each to apply discipline in another area.
Because I was so prompt about folding my clothes and making sure my boots were shined, it helped me in other areas like business and work.
When someone is lazy at work, you can almost bet that they are lazy everywhere else in life. The same goes for a diligent and harworking person. If they work hard at work, it is a good chance that they work hard everywhere else.
Attention to detail and discipline will take you very far in life.

I have a friend whose motto is, "If it isn't done well, I won't put my name to it." We dated for years before she kicked me to the curb. I have flaws😄 We are still great friends, and I have great respect for her because she lives according to the paradigm you describe.
Details matter, but don't get stuck in the muck of perfection, as it can slow progress.

Nice reminder Keith, thanks for sharing.
All the best with your endeavors.
Kind regards
Erica
It's true! People I've seen who are bleh about many other areas of their life rarely seem to have the motivation to seek success. In my own life, I'm so scattered that it seems to spread to everything, lol. Working on that.

An excellent read here Keith, and I agree with you 98% !!
But... I do know a few people who excel and are so neat and tidy in everything they do work wise but are complete and utter messy sobs the minute they get home!!
Appreciate the share my friend and enjoy the rest of your week!
