I think I swallowed a fly.

What do you do when you swallow a fly? It was just a little one, so I will probably live. But after swallowing this fly it got me to thinking of this old riddle—How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time. (Don't know why this connection was made...I also thought of the old lady who swallowed the fly.)

That is the same way we build our websites—one bite/step at a time.

Because I have previous experience with writing websites—even before the creation of Wealthy Affiliate—I sometimes try to hit the ground running and forget that it takes little bites at a time to build a successful website. It takes a step-by-step approach.

But I want to run! Probably like the fly I swallowed wanted to get out of my mouth, throat and stomach! Don't worry my little friend, eventually you will get out!

And even though I am slow, I still want to grow wings and fly!

So, in an attempt to be helpful, I thought I would list some of the baby steps I have to take.

Baby Steps
  1. I need to finish the training. I have been jumping ahead. The worst part of jumping ahead is that I forget important steps along the way. Then I make more work for myself because I have to go back and fix things.
  2. I need to get back into a conscientious pattern of posting my blog posts. I have been trying a mix of techniques for writing the posts some using AI, some written entirely by my rambling thoughts. And some written by methodically researched efforts.
  3. I need to get outside with camera and take photos of some of the things I am talking about. The photos generated by AI and the ones we can use from WA are great, but sometimes a more personal approach can be the best way to reach someone.
  4. I actually do need to slow down some of my active thoughts and focus!

There is so much to do and I keep thinking of all the things to do and I need to relax my brain just a bit so I can work better on what matters most which includes thoughtfully and precisely building a beautiful website that will help others reach their dreams, too!

Best wishes to our successes!

Karin

Love this post! I have done all of the above too! Except for eating the elephant.
I am back at the training too and happy with hubs and updates. I am starting to see tiny results from those efforts! It’s always good to know we are not alone!

Hey, I thought only old ladies swallowed flies -- are you an old lady?

It's hard to stay on track sometimes. I have the same problem. Best to finish one task before starting another. After all, where would we be if we started a new day before finishing the old one?

Well my granddaughter thinks I'm ancient so I'm on the old lady side of life!

I always think, "Well, if I didn't have to work, I know I could make money doing affiliate marketing."

Then I think, "If all my bills were paid, I wouldn't have to make more than $1000 a month all together."

Then I think, "Like that's ever gonna happen."

I can wrap myself up in a vicious cycle of regret and shame, so I have learned to take 1 day at a time.

Now if I could get my brain to slow down!!!

Hope you have a great and productive week, Fran!

Boy, do I know that one! One day at a time is sometimes very difficult...and slowing the brain down? It accounts for many nights when I don't get enough sleep.

However, it's good to be a thinking organism. If we keep on plugging away, a plan will unfold for us -- I do believe that.

Isn't it good to know we share collective thinking so we know we are not alone?

Have a great week, Fran.

You swallowed a fly Karin.... better swallow a spider to catch it then!!

Taking things at a pace we are comfortable with is essential...

I don't believe in jumping forward and missing out crucial steps, (although, I have been guilty of this on occasion)!

Take care my friend and enjoy a wonderful start to the new week! :-)

👍🕷

I would swallow the spider but I am afraid I would then need to swallow a bird or some more absurd!

I am reviewing the training now. In fact, I completely skipped the second lesson without even realizing it! Now I've watched that and am working on some image creation through AI. I have done the logo for my refreshed site and am looking forward to creating other images after getting some sage advice from BrendaMZ!

I hope you have a productive week!

Karin

Yeah... swallowing a bird could prove problematic Karin!!

Sounds excellent my friend, keep on learning and succeeding, you too!! :-)

Thanks. I will do that!

👍👍

At least we will always be busy doing something, Karin!

We just have to keep going forward!

Jeff

Most definitely, Jeff.

By the way, I got that pix of my cat... Now tell me, doesn't your kitty and my kitty look like they could be related? LOL

WOW, Karin, they certainly do look related! Amazing!

Jeff 😹👍

Her name is Zebra—pronounced like Debra. My granddaughter named her!

Hope you have a great day!

Karin

Haha! That is GREAT, Karin!

Enjoy your day too!

Jeff😹
