When it Rains, it Pours
After so many weeks of hot, humid weather and threats of water shortages, September has arrived and the rain has moved in. Rain is forecast every day this week, with some thunderstorms thrown in for good measure.
I fell asleep last night listening to the rain but kept getting woken up by flashes of lightning and loud rumbles of thunder. But it was strangely soothing. It's raining now and the air smells lovely and fresh.
We Brits love to talk about our weather, some of us are never happy unless we're complaining about it! Soon it will be cold and dark as winter moves in but I don't mind the cold.
And maybe this winter I won't have to crawl out of my nice warm bed at some unearthly hour and go to work. Here's hoping...
Meanwhile, I'm grateful for the rain. The grass is lush and green and the sound of the rain is very calming. If anyone is suffering from lack of rainfall drop me a message and I'll send some over to you. It's good to share!

That’s great you’re getting rain. My ponds have completely dried up and the forest critters could sure use a drink lol.
Susan
I put a bowl of water out in my garden. Maybe you could do that for the forest creatures?
Look out for a courier carrying heavy black clouds, possibly with lightning illuminating his van 🚐
I’m feeling 75% better today Jeff, the prayers worked. I’ve been able to get a few things done today including taking Luna-dog for a walk. She had a good run around with some of her doggy friends. Hope your hump day is going well too
Thank you, Karen, and I'm very glad that the prayers worked! They always seem to for me, at least when they are supposed too!
It has gone well, but I am all over the place with it and at the end of the day it does not feel like I got much accomplished!
Jeff
If you look back at your day and write a mental list of what you did you might find you achieved more than you think!
That's a good thought, Karen! Thank you!
I hope you are having an excellent Thursday!
Jeff
Rain will make the grass greener and muddy.
Good thing you still have your power on I hope.

Last winter my garden looked like a swamp. I expected to see alligators lurking under the apple tree. My floor was a mess, Luna went out and dug holes then brought all the wet mud in on her paws!
After this horrible summer I would appreciate any weather that isn't a fire hazard and cooler than 80. I can't wait until I can move from here. It's too scary with this awful heatwave now that has been going on for like 10 days. It's too hot to do anything. I would love to live where it actually had seasons and none of them were summer. I love rain, snow, and brisk cool weather. I think I will have to stay here for another couple of years. until I can get enough money from the sale of my home to live somewhere cool. But interest rates have to go down and my equity has to go up. I have been doing upgrades on my home to make it worth more money but the upgrades aren't cheap. I am hoping to get a big amount of money from my home.
Sorry for so much whining. I am very happy for your and I also love the UK and have lived there for a year while I went to Stirling University in Scotland - That is where I got to see all 4 seasons for the first time!
I hope your excellent weather keeps on keeping on!
Barbara
Thanks Barbara, I hope your weather cools down soon, that relentless heat must be hard to bear. Have you looked into the house swap thing yet? That might get you somewhere with a more suitable climate. There must be lots of people who live in cold places who would love to be somewhere warm. Go and investigate!
Out of curiosity, where do you reside? I'm sorry to hear about this heatwave. I'm from Minnesota and I think this has been one of the better summers weather wise. Generally stayed in the 70 to 80s, rarely got to 90s this year.
We have had some heatwaves in the past however, at times we had weeks where it's in the high 90s and 100s
I live in Southern California where there has been a horrible heat wave for a while now up into the high 90s and low 100s. But it has been hot since March it seems like. I don't even remember cool weather. Plus I live in a fire hazard area that just makes it more stressful. I just want to leave! I would like to live somewhere where it never gets hot. But that place might not exist. Sounds like you have had a great summer!

You have a great attitude about the weather. I like rain in hot temperatures. Our NW (US) temperatures are similar to yours. I grit my teeth and endure winter, though I did (back in the day) love Anchorage, AK. It was bright sun most days, though the days were very short. It is what it is. Stay happy, rain or shine.
I like it when it’s raining but the sun suddenly bursts through the clouds and a rainbow appears. Magical!
