Time to say Goodbye to a Dear Friend
It's with an extremely heavy heart that I have to say goodbye to a very dear friend today. She has just passed away with cancer at the same age as I am. It's left a hole in our lives that I don't know how we are going to fill. What makes it even more difficult is the fact that she lived in Italy and the funeral is on Friday so we will not be able to attend.
We had many happy times enjoying Italian food together and musing about life in general and some wonderful funny moments which I will never forget. My heart goes out to her husband, son and daughter who all took us under their wing when we first went to Italy. They showed us the sights, took us to their house for food, (which is very unusual) and generally gave us the love for Italy which we have today.
I am struggling to find any positives to say to anyone today so please forgive me if I don't respond in my usual way.

A loss like that is hard to bear. And what can be said except that I hope the pain in your heart eases somewhat over time. We can't erase the pain; just have to learn how to bear it.
So sad for the family. Take care of them as best you can and by all means, take care of yourself in this time of grief.
Thanks Duncan, she fought for 4 long and hard years and I know she is in no more pain, but it's so hard.
