I know shopify uses A Record and WA does not support that. Is there a way to still transfer a website to shopify from WA without the use of A Record?
WA Customer service
If you want an e-commerce site, just add Woocommerce to your WordPress site.
Shopify and WordPress are not compatible with each other.
we have been using woocommerce for about a year now. We have been having multiple troubles with the cart and have lost customers due because of it.. crazy cart when a customer is trying to check out just does not send the right message of trustworthy.. if you know what I mean...
Of course getting help is minimal and after spending HOURS researching and trying multiple solutions, we decided to bite the bullet and move to shopify... I WISH woocommerce worked .. would have saved me an immense amount of hassle.

I am searching for that same answer also. Shopify wants us to hook it up and WA just wants to redirect to our store. I had bought the domain from WA to use on Shopify tho. ...Off to search for the answers lol

Hi. I've had the same problem, just with a domain name registered at GoDaddy. I did buy the name again from GoDaddy and then I've "forward" it for the time being to the server name that Shopify gave me. (NO one looks at the domain bar of your browser after they have typed in the domain name in any case!) That can be done for the short term but could also be a long term answer as well..
I know, not what you wanted to hear but the most important thing is to start making money. NOW! Leave technical stuff out for later...
Thanks for your reply.
I did have it forwarding, however, we were constantly getting an error code. That does not come across as "trust" worthy.. lol..
Im seriously frustrated with the way WA is giving me the runaround with this. Simple Question.. "How do I transfer a domain to Shoify."
They refuse to answer..
I loved WA up until this point. So not cool...
Wow! I see your problem. Went into my own domains that I've bought through WA - and you are right: they can't be transferred! I agree, heavily uncool...not on! I think WA doesn't know themselves. I think that domains are not done domestically at WA but rather through a third party (like Amazon, most likely.)
If I can make a suggestion in this regard. Open a new website in the domain name you want to use. I suggest a blank background. So, when people type in your website's name, this new website comes up. Maybe there's a photo of a shocked (woman/man/child/etc, depending on your niche market). Below that photo you have something like: "You are about to enter something marvelous..." or "Have you seen our new shop? Amazing!" or "Welcome to our new shop!" or "Put on your safety belt and push the button;;;" or any thing you can think of creatively. Then have a button below that that people should click. That button directs them to your shop with a shopify adress. Only for the time being. That is all I can think of. I am sorry for not able to help you. But I think from now on, I am not going to register my domains with WA...I'm sorry....
Good luck and have some fun once you are up and running.

I need a more trusted cart or platform than Woocommerce. There is so many its overwhelming to know which ones actually work. I'm even willing to pay for a reliable one.. curren
I used woocommerce and never had such problem, so I am sorry to hear that! (I did have some payment issues, though, especially paypal, but that was just because I was so novice). With the same reasons I changed Shopify... :D It is quite an easy platform to set up. Hope you will find the best alternative.
hmmm.. payment issues haven't been an issue... I wonder if it has something to do with the theme. We are using Divi.. must admit I'm not very impressed with it either.. :(
Thank you for your reply!

I transferred my domain to WA. Of course I lost all my content but I was not worried as I had it all backed up on Dropbox. However now Im having a ridiculous time trying to ret
How did you save it on Dropbox ? If you have your own account, you need a login/password and it should be there, where you save it !
Sylvain
Yes I can see it in my Dropbox but I don't know how to get it from there back onto my website... I can't even open it :/
Can you do a screen shot ? What type of data is it ? maybe you can ask the Wa support, but it might depend how you saved it...
I didn't know this type of file. From what I found, it is a compressed file and you need to decompress it. WIth what did you save this ?
Right through wordpress... I honestly couldn't tell you how.. lol.. I followed someone's instruction
