Hi,

i arrived here mostly by surprise. I was actually looking on Internet to start a travel blog. I wanted to do this for years, but now i think i'm finally ready to do it.

My favorite thing for sure is travelling and i would like to blog about it, to share experiences, tips and advice on travel, reviews of accessories for travelling (tripod, camera, gears, bag pack...).

I'm really motivated to learn about all of this and get started. I'm reading a lot to see the big picture of this. I already have lots of idea to add to my blog.

Also i'm french so i hope it won't be a problem to get some help.

Here's my travel blog : http://lesdeuxpiedsdehors.com

Bonjour Ambre,

OK Chef lol bien compris. Tu es mon montor lol

So did you include the google translate button yet? It is soooo easy to do!

Check this out, if you havn´t yet: How are you doing so far with your website. I always wanted to do something on traveling as i travelled almost the whole world ;)
But now with a kid, I am limited and so I focus on outdoor sport in preticulare - stand up paddling

Hi Uta,

I haven't included the google translate button yet but I will for sure. Thanks for the link.

My site is starting slowing, 8 posts for now but I'm struggling a bit with my keyword in French.

I want to translate it by myself mostly but it takes times. I was on vacation in France for 3 weeks, so I miss times ;-)

We'll keep in touch. I want to share my pages but it need to be in English, that's better as most of the people here speak English ;-)

Take care

Write in French, stay natural when writing and let the tool do the job. Mine is in German... no problem. Do not get stuck with small things like this where is an easy solution for now. ;)

Keywords are a problem for me too... to adjust them to German. But the system does know German words too... some — but it is all made for English... but really — do not worry too much. Start writing and watch yourself while researching — note down your keywords YOU USE for finding stuff. You are nothing different from your audience!
I like the headline maker — wait. I give you the link — and out of this I translate it to German and make a strong headline which is mostly also strong with keywords.

http://www.aminstitute.com/headline/index.htm

All the best.
Do ask all you can not solve yourself. Don't be shy. This is my best recommendation I can give to you!

Sylvain34 Premium
Thanks for your answer Uta. You said do not get stuck with small things, but as I understand it SEO is quite important and if I cannot found good key word, i will never be very Welles ranked in google I think ?

I didn't know you wrote in German. So your best option for now for your keywords is to go with your guts? Because on my side, I have red lot of training to found your true competition site (ex QSR) by typing your keyword with bracket into google and going into the last page. It will give you how many site are exactly using this keywords tu you need to keep in mind that most of the people don't search in Google with bracket and when they don't Google will allow itself to give results more or less pertinent. But someone explained to me that we cannot see the search by month like on the keyword tool.

So actually I'm not so sure how to work well with my keyword yet. The keyword Tool in WA recognize some French word when there is no accent. Otherwise it don't.

Maybe we can help each other with technique if we found some ? For now, I have no solution to see how many people are looking for a particular information on my niche, so it's difficult. I can see the QSR as I said earlier but I'm not even sure people are looking for it actually.

What do you think ?

I'm quite new here in WA. I'm writing for now a travel blog on how to travel cheaply around the world. I know it's been done to death but it's my passion so I would stay with it ;-)

For now im writing my posts in French but I began to translate them in English to as I want my site to be bilingual!

Can I ask your advice on how to use SEO in French and English. What would you advice for me. Use WA for keyword in English and an other site for French keyword ? What is the best site you think for this ? Kyle recomand "Google keyword planner", you recommend some other site ?

If you can give me some tips for this, it would be great. I would love to talk with you about this ;-)

Thanks

Yes, there are a lot of traveler bloggers, just be the best:)
As Kyle says, Google can be used, and the 2 you found on the other blog. I use for my Dutch websites the alphabet soup.
And I look at the results found, I aim for <1000
I add my main keyword in the Google search bar, then I see what titles and descriptions the competitors have on Google page 1.
From there I take more keywords, and check them up.
The best way is to go to the last page of Google to find the real number of competition. Does this make any sense?
Reply
Sylvain34 Premium
Yes it does make sense of course. I have tried kWfinder but it isn't free actually. I will try the other one.

When you said you use the alphabet soup, you're talking about the alphabet soup technique in google ? Starting with a small keyword then type a, b, c Etc ?

What do you mean aiming results <1000 ?

I have tried to use this technique but I don't know where to start first actually. I understand it but I won't give me the same result as WA keyword tool ? I will only know how many people tried to look this particular keyword ?
Reply
Loes Premium
Yes, that's what I meant. Keyword + A, B etc.
When you do that, you take the words out with a,b,c, you like most
Make a phrase of it and in the search bar
Then you look at the top results. What are the titles they use.
Which words are in the description.
Combine several sentences from it
In the search bar again between "brackets"
Then surf to the last page of google to see the actual results
Reply
Sylvain34 Premium
Thanks for your answers. I have also checked ubergest. It is good to found keyword, but you don't know anything about how many search are done a month on this site ?

I'm actually struggling with my French keyword as I'm not sure how to do it perfectly, and I'm so afraid to work hard on my site and my posts in French as I'm not even sure I'm using good keyword

I have tried WA keyword tool with some French keyword without accent and it seems to be working actually.

The thing is :

1- with the alphabet soup technique how can you found how many search a month are done ?
2 - if I use the bracket and a keyword in French (as in the training you sent me) you can confirm me I will get the QSR WA

Thanks for your help

For example I've written an article. The title and keyword are "prévoir un itinéraire de voyage"

If you look on google for it with bracket, you will only found 5 answer. I'm first.

Is that a good thing or not ?
Reply
Loes Premium
I don't know how many searches are done a month, I just follow my guts and common sense on that one.
Say, I want to know more about parsley, I start a search on Google.
parsley - doesn't bring me the answer, I add a word
cultivate parsley
way to cultivate parsley
best way to cultivate parsley
indoor cultivate parsley - the word greenhouse pops up, alright!
greenhouse cultivated parsley

1. screenshot start of search
2. screenshot last page of Google with actual result
3. Screenshot Google suggestions - important, that is where people are searching for!

WA doesn't do a great job for Dutch
Reply
Loes Premium
Yes and no.
Google is presenting always authority sites first, even when they only have the word prévoir in the keyword phrase.
So, the older and bigger your website gets, the more likely you will end up on the first page.
It's a very good phrase to use, so please use it! For future sake! But do not expect to be on that first page with a site of 1 month old. Every authority site with one of these keywords in their sentence will beat you.

And when you do a search, please remember to do this in an incognito window, don't let Google fool you with your own cache.

I know about the brackets, but do you ever use brackets? When you search for something on Google? I don't! And I believe no one does. So Google will present to its searchers all found words separately.

When someone does a search with brackets, "prévoir un itinéraire de voyage" you will be definitely on page 1 together with the other 5

Yes! Of course I do, for my English posts! I certainly do! But the Netherlands Jaaxy is more expensive than the yearly fee of WA and Jaaxy together
Reply
Sylvain34 Premium
I understand of course. So correct me if I'm wrong. You do care of the competition for your English posts and you use the WA keyword tool for your English posts. And then for your Dutch site you use the alphabet soup technique that we talked about ?

Hi,

Thanks for your advice. I've tried to use the keyword tool already on my first posts actually. It was great to found some idea too.

I will have a look for sure at your video as soon I can.

But I was also thinking at something. The other day I watched the video to how to get ranked in google without using keywords. So would you consider I need to use the tool anyway to get better ranking. Because on the video, you explained that google is also ranking on some other content, if I remember correctly?

I will take your advice anyway to not use affiliate links before getting ranked.

I also received an email from Google Search console telling me that google started to look at my website. That's good news, but for now WA don't show "indexed in google". I have to buy a new domain in a few days, what do you think it won't be a problem for my ranking, they will follow me even if my domain site change?

Thanks

Hi Chris, i'm good. The training course 1 is already done. I'm still a little working on my niche on my website as it might be to broad for some people. I asked Kyle a few hours ago, what did i think about going to specific into niches for bag-pack travel on a budget.
I was thinking of going specific into niches into category of my menu into my website. is that a bad thing?
I might get to people looking for tips to go to French Polynesia and what to do over there (as i'm leaving here actually) and then expend to some other country (another niche) and tips about photography during travelling.

Might be to difficult to do?

For example, if i want to do affiliate marketing with Amazon, do i need to have some contents already? I mean the difficult part is don't have anything for now, except my "about me" page!
So i will have to write some contents first with keeping in mind affiliate link, as you said. But my free account will be finished in 4 days and, at this time, i won't have much of contents. Maybe i need to take some times to write some contents first and then i'll go after here, and go into premium. Does that sound dumb?

Actually, as you said i'm rolling with the training and learning lot of stuffs.

About my niche, i asked already on WA and already got an answer. I had actually the idea before coming here to write about traveling on a budget and photography when you travel. I'm not sure yet i can't be only a niche or if i can put them together though.
Reply
Kyle Premium
What aspect of the travel niche do you want to help people with? There are literally 1,000's of niches within these categories and you will want to narrow it down. Where specifically? What type of travel? What aspect of travel?

Your niche ideas are definitely viable directions for your niche. You need to choose one when starting out, what are you most passionate about?

When deciding on a niche and trying to narrow down to a more specific niche, I recommend you ask yourself the following question:

I want to help people that ______________.

Fill in the blank and you are going to be much closer to a specific audience. After you do this and if you want to run any further ideas by me, let me know and I will give you a hand. :)

Hi Kyle,
Thanks for all the information and the help about founding my niche. Even if i do understand what is it, I actually don't understand how targeting a more specific niche of travelers could help your for monetizing a blog for exemple ?
Usually when you see a travel blog, it always look like this with this menu (and I thought more or less doing the same)
- destination menu, to tell stories about where they went. It will include (now that I know what it is) affiliate links to hostel, restaurant, company etc.),
- tips menu : including accessories review, tips about what to bring over there, how to do it, where to buy etc.
- philosophy menu : usually just talking about why is good to travel, how you can do it, why you can change your life etc.

Someone from WA recommend this famous website : nomadicmatt
Or something like this : heynadine

So if I was thinking of your sentence, that would be, I want to help people that "don't know anything about traveling yet and looking for some tips to help them take the forest step". Or it also can be people that "are looking for some inspiration to start traveling (on a budget if you don't have a lot of money)".

It will include mostly my type of travelling, so travelling on a budget, everywhere in the world. When I was telling you that I don't understand here when you need to be more specific, it was because the same persons (I'm actually one of them, as I'v travelled for a long time) looking for tips to how to travel, where to travel, what to bring over there, tips of visa, bag pack, credit card, what to read when you're traveling etc. It will be for me the same people.

I'll explain. If you want to qui your job and start travelling worldwide, or if you want to do a 3 weeks vacation somewhere on a budget, or if you want tips about how to choose your back pack, this same person will be interested to have all of this in one website.

This will not include person travelling with lot of money because they won't come here looking for answers usually.

I'd really love your opinion, am i off tracks here or does it make sense?

Sylvain

Yeah, don't look at a broad travel blog, they often times have many employees (100's) if they are broad.

You could go much more targeted, you could target something like "travelling to Venice". Choosing a travel back-pack and backpack reviews could be a niche. Backpacking in Australia could be a niche. Or you could target something like "cruises in the bahamas" and be very successful, it is the experts these days that gain the most trust within their perspective niches are those that succeed at the highest rate.
Reply
Sylvain34 Premium
Thanks Kyle for the answers.

i'm not thinking of a broad travel blog as you said, but a travel blog for back-packers around the world. That's my ultimate goal, but i understand what you're thinking.
In fact i thought about all this and i was thinking of targetting niche into categories of my website?
Ex : i will have a category "review" where i will test bag-pack, camera, gears etc. -> 1 niche
i will have an other category "tips for travelling on a budget" -> an other niche here.

So you see where i want to go?
But i could start with a small niche of "travelling on a budget in French Polynesia" for ex and then expand to some others.

Yeah, that is most definitely the direction you could head with your niche. If this is something that you are passionate about, definitely go for it Sylvain!

Sure, that could be a direction you head. You can always expand on this in the future or be involved in many different niches, but that can definitely be a BIG niche as you dig into it.

You're right, i'm going to start with something at least. And then i will expend of course, but yeah it's going to be a big niche and it's going to me difficult as there is already have some many blogs talking about travelling on a budget.

Anyway, i need to start somewhere right? ;-)

And i will try to follow as you said :

Step 1: Choose your niche
Step 2: Build your website/content
Step 3: Get rankings in search engines (leads to traffic)
Step 4: Monetize your traffic (the make money part, through affiliate programs, etc!)

Hey there Sylvain.

Glad you decided to take advantage of the free membership here at Wealthy Affiliate.

Now that you’ve joined the WA family, it’s time for you to get clear on what you are here to achieve. Do you...

want to build a profitable blog business?
want to learn how to get traffic?
want to learn how to do SEO?
want to get free hosting?
want a helpful community?
want a step by step action plan that will GUARANTEE success?

All that you are looking is available for you on the left-hand side of the screen.

Here is what you should do first.

1) Fill out a quick (short) bio and add a profile picture.

This will help you make connect with other fellow members of WA

2) Start Exploring WA.

Start exploring what WA is all about. My suggestion would be to hit the green “Get Started Here” button. It is a 10-day step-by-step process which will show you how you to start building your online empire!

3) Read this amazing story by a fellow WA member:

https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/parre/blog/my-first-10-000-month

It will show you what you can achieve here at WA if you simply follow the training process.

-----------------------------------------------

If you enjoy Wealthy Affiliate, which I am sure you will, then you should consider going premium in the near future.

When you are ready to go "Premium", you will open up all the training modules, webinars, courses and content available at Wealthy Affiliate.

Here are just SOME of the bonuses you'll get if you decide to go premium in your first 7 days:

1) A 59% discount on your first month (only $19 - $0.61c per day)

2) You’ll have me as your own personal mentor in WA.

I’ve been here 4 years now and achieved all my dreams with WA, I want to help you do the same.

3) Free hosting for your website (valued at $12 per month each).

I have 5 blogs hosted at WA, this alone saves me $60 per month on hosting costs.

*And they wonder why I love WA so much* LOL !

-----------------------------------------------

I’ll leave you to it now Sylvain .

Just wanted to drop by and introduce myself and the WA community to you.

Just know that I am here to help you so feel free to reply back on this comment or leave me one on my own profile here:

https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/chris-lee

I’ll drop by in a few days again to see how you’re doing.

All the best!

Hi Chris,

Even if it was an automatic presentation, I’m actually glad I came here. For now, I really don’t know where to start first because I’m new at this.
To tell you about me quickly, I have traveled a lot these past few years but I want to it more often. I still have a great job but, at term, I’ll like to live from my travel blogging.
For now, I’m a little septic about everything I read, I mean you need to be because there is a lot of garbage on Internet and mostly, people will always want money of something. It’s the same for you actually trying to convince me to achieve my membership in WA and it’s also the same for me, as I want to live about this, so I understand perfectly everything.
Right now, I will start to look for answers, as I have so many, so I won’t bother you to actually ask a few of them.
I don’t know much about monetizing a blog even if I have an actual travel blog for friends and family mostly. So, writing won’t be a problem with me but it might be in English though as I’m French and my English fluent. I also know, I will have more chance to have a good traffic on my blog if I write in English for sure. So, I’m gonna ask a question anyway, no two ;-) :
- Will it be better to start a blog in your native language (French) and then ask for a translation to someone or a website and start doing a blog in French/English?
- Will it be possible for me to start on a free wordpress blog and then move the contend to my official blog (domain name etc.)? What will you recommend?
Anyways, I’m not even sure, you’re going to answer me! So I will stop here and do some research
Sylvain
