Show Me The Money Or How Am I Going To Get Paid
Hi there and welcome back to the 3rd, and possibly final, post in my series on Niche Selection. Today I want to talk about how I intend to make income from the site and specifically how I intend to use the big money-maker to hit my montly target.
Way back in the past, us WAers had to create some 'money goals' and my money goal that I would be 'ecstatic' to reach was 10,000 and it would phenomenal to reach $10,000 per month. That's a serious wedge of cash!
But what would it take to reach 10K a month, how does the money break down?
The Money-maker
What is 10,000/month anyway? Well, it's 120000 (12 x 10000) / 365 = 329 (rounded up) per day. For ease of any further math, I'm going to round that down to 300/day.
In my previous post on this subject, I talked about the monetization possibilities (https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/johnvale/blog/6-steps-to-imp...) for the site and I thought my big money shot would be to promote a vacation package.
Well, I found a a company that runs an affiliate program that offers a commission of 6%. Now their 'average' vacation spend is approximately 2600 per order - that would give me a commission of 156/sale. So, 2 sales per day of this vacation package would give me my target of 300/day.
Currently, the average conversion rate for an online sales page is approximately 1%, so 1 out of every 100 people that visit my page about the vacation package should buy it - so, to achieve my target, I need 200 visitors (minimum) to come to my page per day.
Now, not all traffic is equal. I need targeted visitors, people who want to vacation in Israel. So, are there actually enough people interested in an Israeli vacation to make this worthwhile?
Let's look at the numbers.
The Traffic
Back in 2019, pre-Covid lockdowns, Israel received 4.55 million tourists from the entire globe. Now, I discovered that the majority of my website traffic will probably come from the UK, simply because of our history and I discovered that 234,000 Brits had vacationed in Israel back in 2019.
Now, I need 200 targeted visitors to my vacation page per day - that's 365x200 =73,000 visitors a year. So, there IS enough interest in this country alone to warrant creating this page. Yes, there a lot of variables to consider, but, extremely broadly speaking, there is enough interest in Israeli vacations in the UK alone to warrant building this page.
Phew!
OK, so I know that I can find an affiliate program that will help me hit my big income target; I have discovered that there is enough interest in my country alone to warrant building that page and promoting it; but how can I get them, where are they hanging out online?
Let's see if I can find out.
The Traffic Sources
I'm not actually going to talk about these, after all, it wouldn't do if some with no morals came along and stole my idea from under me so I'm going to give a very broadstroke sweep over a few ideas.
1. Pinterst/Instagramm - as I discovered in post 2 of this series; the search term 'knights templar' brought up some images on the 1st page of Google - now, if Google is displaying images, then a Pinterest board or an Instagram account may do well here as a traffic gathering tool, however, you do need a big following to make this worthwhile.
The rule of thumb is that a following of 10,000 on each of these socila media sites could result in a cllick-through rate of 1-5%
2. A Youtube channel - it might be a bit of a challenge but I could build a Youtube channel around vacation packages that are already created. A decent YT channel could result in a clickthrough rate of around 10%
3. The blog - Now, this will be my offer's main source of traffic as the people visiting will be highly relevant traffic to the offer - I could reasonable expect, if I have done a good job with the content of having a 30-50% clickthrough rate to my offer page.
4. PPC - Pay-Per-Click ads on the search engines. This is the fastest way to generate traffic to my offer page. Creat an ad on Google, set how much I want to pay a day and run the ad and see the response. I could set a daily spend of, say, $10 and run the ad til the money runs out and see whether it works.
Now these 4 are only a few of the traffic sources that could be used to get more visitors to the blog/offer but, I believe, they are the main 4.
So, where am I?
Conclusion
I set out to find a roadmap that would help me have a greater chance of improving my chances of creating an online income. Using that roadmap, I put an idea for a niche through it and discovered that I should pivot my angle of attack to my sub-niche as that had a bigger slice of interest.
I then looked into the income side of the niche choice in this post and found out that this 1 site could create enough of a monthly income to enable me to hit my 'ecstatic' levels of income.
I am going to push the green button on this niche and set out to build a website based upon my discoveries.
Many thanks for reading thiis series folks, your comments have been useful and insightful.
Cheers
