iam currently experiencing loads of comments being left on my website most of which have no meaning to the content of my article or site. This is becoming irritating to say the leas
Thanks guys if any of you done mind please check my site out www.kidshealthonline.co.uk please feel free to add some nice keyworded comments for me on any of my pages please much appreciated
Make sure you have your akismet plugin set up and they will all go to spam unless you approve them. Getting a ton of spam comments sucks but it also lets you know that your site is out there and being seen as well by real readers too. I found the more spam comments I got the more popular my site was.
so are you saying let some of the spam in i want to keep the comments quality fed through the articles of my site
No don't let any spam in, the plugin will stop them all. If there is a comment you want on your site because it ads value or asks a question regarding the topic then you can approve that one and reply to it. But if you are getting a lot of spam then letting the akismet plugin stop them is best.
all done i hadnt activated the askimet plugin hopefully this will sort a few problems iam having
Are these comments coming as SPAM to your spam folder? If so just delete them...
All your comments should need your approval before they hit your pages,,,,
Let me know
Thanks
Chris
i do have to approve the comments but when my site is getting hit with at least 40 of these a day its filling my comments up to check in the admin section i like to keep my area clear of all this crap being fed or trying to be fed on to my site
Askimet will filter them out as someone else stated. You can then empty your spam folder daily. They are separated out from the real comments.

Do you have akismet installed? Comment spam is the bane of every webmaster's existence. If it's getting sent to the spam folder, ignore it. If Akismet isn't handling the spam properly, try the Anti Spam plugin instead.
Got it all installed now woke up this morning and it seems to be blocking the spam at the moment I've also had to block some referral traffic from semalt.com and a buttons-for-website.com these were causing lots of bounce rate problems also I think this is were my spam comments were coming from

I have just set up my Google plus community page about my niche would I be able to copy and paste my articles to it and would Google search frown upon this after all I own the writ
If you want to post it on your google+ account just copy and paste the URL in he address bar to your share field on your page in goohle +
This is not a good idea, Google would frown upon this as it is considered duplication. Every page and post that you write has to be an original.
Search engines can very quick detect if the same information has been found elsewhere on the internet. If this happens then your site will become discredited and plummet in the search engine ranks.
Plus to copy and paste your work from one area to another is not really giving your readers value.
Only reason why I asked this is because I was thinking of my community that use Google+ via mobile and don't use the full internet at home but if it's something Google will not like then it looks like I won't use it I will just have to share a link to the actual article with a subject picture
That sounds like a much better idea. You can also write two totally different posts/pages on the same subject. This would give your visitors different perspectives on the same topic. It would also keep them linked to your site for longer.

i recently purchased a theme plugin call covert store builder. I received my code to activate this but when ive installed the theme and try to input my code for the full access all
Just got your PM John. I looked at the theme. I can't explain the technical stuff very well, but because the theme is constantly needing to connect to amazon, it's a liability to the servers. This is also NOT a theme that will benefit your website.
You can see a good review of it here: http://nomorebsreviews.com/negative-reviews/covert-store-builder-review-im-wealth-builders-scam/
A theme like this is definitely not a good idea or direction to take your business in my opinion. I would follow the training in WA very closely, and you will have much more success.
this site is just a side venture, i have a good friend who is a tree surgeon and has a lot of logs and seasoned wood that he keeps i built this quick pop up site for to let his potential customers browse what log burners and accessories are out there he is not to bothered about the quality of the blogs just a simple site to showcase the different types of items that can be bought
http://www.firewoodburner.co.uk
Oh, ok. You can do the same thing with a free plugin called woo commerce that I think will be much better. The plugin is allowed at wa, and is more trustworthy IMO. You just have to make sure that you get a theme that supports it, but there are many, both free and paid.
I got my theme activated albeit WA had to activate and accept it from their end for some reason
doesn't seem to be the case they are not accepting all themes this is a bit unfair here is what WA have said
Hi John,
WA does not allow plugins or themes which require time to time outbound connections to remote servers, but we can check if the theme requires only one time activation and enable it temporarily if the plugin fits into policy.
You need to get back to us with following things so it can be checked.
1. wp-admin login details of the site
2. steps to activate theme , and required license or Key info
3. Name of the theme and its functionality.
The WA explanation sounds a bit iffy. "WA does not allow plugins or themes which require time to time outbound connections to remote server"
. . . so what about a plugin that someone uses to put Amazon products on their site. That pulls in data from Amazon servers. Lots of people use them. That's just one example, loads of plugins contact remote servers - any Google related plugin does.
A better policy would just be to allow plugins in the Wordpress depository. That would make sense as they know those aren't going to harm sites or their servers whereas a plugin from outside has the potential of screwing up a site or a server big time.
its not a plugin it was a them i purchased after purchasing it i have installed it but to gain full access to it i need to input my purchase id code which was given but when i do this all i get back is options saved but it is supposed to unlock the theme for full access ive spoke to the theme seller but they insist its a problem at this end and not theirs
Are you talking about a theme or a plugin? I've heard that some plugins may not be supported by WA...

If the theme does not support that option you can change that within your css stylesheet in your theme editor. However, I do not recommend you do it yourself.

There you go. That should help out a lot. Everyone hates those sites.
