Your Content Matters
Here’s something I learned a long time ago when a very wise mentor once told me,
"Don't worry, just keep writing. Keep expressing yourself.
Whatever you write, whatever you say, your content matters."
To this day, I still can hear his words every time I sit down to write, every time I walk into a seminar room to give a speech, or every time I take the stage.
No matter how good you are, or how good you think you are, even the BEST writer's posts will bomb now and then.
Every now and then, even the best speakers will talk to a painting.
Keep writing. Keep speaking.
Whenever opportunity knocks, go for it!
Change Your Thinking
Don’t worry so much. Worrying is not going change things or make things better.
Your expectations are your biggest problem.
Change your thinking.
Move on. Take a breather for a moment – yeah commiserate, go ahead and lick your wounds. Whatever.
Then dust off the dirt, get up and WRITE a NEW POST.
7 Other Things
It’s so simple.
Whenever I feel like I fall short, I can always draw great strength from former mentor’s teachings, and always go back to that ONE thing.
And I always remember 7 other things:
- A Great Story and Lesson Told is never wasted
- Great content which informs matters no matter what the content is
- If it was important to voice it, someone out there needs to hear it
- Someone, somewhere is benefiting from the message in your great story
- Your writing is constantly being honed
- In the process, you are learning through trial and error what topics work for your audience
- A Great Story can catch fire later, and if not you can always tweak it
Now you have now become an even better author.
Now you have become an even better speaker.
Onward and upward. Always my friends.
Now get back to the drawing board and Get to Work.
You are STILL great!

My old high school literature teacher always pushed me to write more....don't worry about grammar or spelling until edit time. Get it down on paper. He was also my track coach so pushing us was kind of his specialty!
I miss him to this day !

A very encouraging post. I have just responded to a blog post talking about this same issue. Unfortunately we all perceive the stories differently and some will savor the story but others will be repulsed by the same story.
The important thing is to believe in our own story because that is the story that embodies who we are. We cannot be concerned about how others interpret our story.
Both the written and spoken word are very powerful. They each have the power to build up or tear down.
Your story is one that builds.
