HTTPS - Google's New Rule
Recently, I received an email from Attracta, an SEO company, about the latest news on Google's rank booster for website owners.
Google is encouraging all website owners to have their websites secured with SSL Certificate. This means that when you purchase an SSL certificate from an SEO company, (Attracta) or form any domain host, your site will be facilitated with an HTTPS . This also means a boost on your ranking.
An SSL (Security Socket Layer) is a protocol for transmitting private documents via internet. For example, when you buy products from Amazon which has an SSL, all your private details such as bank account details and credit cards are securely encrypted, For other website owners - bloggers - your login details and email address that you have in your sites are protected against hackers.
At present, most HTTPS (HTTP over TLS or Transport Layer Security) users are those who are into e-commerce, and those websites that require visitors to give their personal and bank details. Although this (SSL Secutrity/HTTPS) is a ranking signal, it is still high-quality content that prevails when it comes to how websites are ranked.
I don't have all the thorough information and knowledge about this requirement, so I will share this link (Google Webmaster Blog) with you for your info and further review:

I also have a link from Attracta giving us the basics of SSL:

Cheers,
Jen

Thanks rolland, I would check it out, and watch the video of Google I/O, and you'll have a clear picture of why Google and the Webmaster people are recommending this. It's a news that i shared, which is very recent. At the end of the day, it's our site security that we need to look after. You'll be surprised how we our sites are being 'eavesdropped', when we are connecting with our visitors.
If you look at the post from Google I/O which is linked to the site that I shared (Webmasters) Google is recommending everyone to have this. They have all the answer from A-Z, on the 'whys' 'hows', and 'wheres' of SSL/HTTPS. I am not promoting it, but I can see that this is the direction that Google and the 'gurus' are signaling us to go. it's a news, not a promo on my part. Thanks for dropping by btw.
Hello Jen,
Carson has discussed this very topic about a week ago and the gist of it is if you are not a direct vendor, content is still king.
I believe that most of us just affiliate stuff for other vendors, they are the ones that need to have the certificates to ensure their customer's safety when shopping.
Hi jonicas, just what Ive shared with Debbie (Sui-), this is what the big G is recommending us to go - SSL for everyone, that includes bloggers, news editors, etc. We are all exposed to a wi-fi that are not secured especially when we are in public places. This is a news, not something that I am into yet. The youtube forum of the two guys from Google I/O have all the answers.
Thanks, ashkan, for understanding that this is just the latest NEWS from Google and the gurus. I don't see any harm in sharing this. We need to keep looking and checking out the latest, in order to move forward.
That's why I said, if you read the post, the ranking is still based on hHIGH QUALITY CONTENT.. It's all up to you. This is just the latest news from Google webmaster. Read the whole link and it will tell you everything. Thanks for sharing your feedback, anyway.
Jen, you only need SSL if you handle money transfers directly. If not, save the money. And I doubt it will boost your ranking.
