Thank you for this! I lived in NYC 20 years. I had just moved to LA on July 4th, 2001.

I'm a professional actress and we typically do other jobs. I temped a ton in those towers. I know many of those companies.

I will never forget when I was woken up by my Mom's call at 7 a.m. - Turn on the TV, the Towers are going down!!!

So horrific and every other description. I visited NYC that October as I wanted to be there. There were still burning embers and names were etched on glass windows with fingers. So horrible.

Years later I visited the Memorial and wept buckets. It's absolutely amazing what they did. Each victim's name is etched on the fountain (it's not a fountain but forget the name they call it) as you walk around it. I let my fingers feel each and every one of them.

We will never forget those who lost their lives. Love, Roz

Wow, Roz! Very powerful! It is on my bucket list to visit the memorial! Thank you for sharing your experiences! This is something that all of us will never forget!

Jeff

The memorial is so powerful! When I went to NYC last year for a conference, I was walking distance from there. Of course I visited. It also made me realize that my hotel was so new, the building previously on the site was probably destroyed that day.

The names that especially affect me are those that have the added phrase "and her unborn child."

Never forget.

Very true! Sad, but at least we know the unborn are definitely sitting at the right hand of God!

It truly is a Must Jeff. You will feel all their spirits. NYC did an amazing job, as they always do! xo, Roz

Thank you, Roz! I don't doubt it!

While I didn't personally know anyone who died, I remember that one family on one of the planes had left a joyous message on their answering machine that they were on their way for an extended trip to Australia or maybe it was New Zealand. That really got to me.

Jeff, I trust you won't mind if I link to the blog post I did this morning... I've already linked to this one of yours.

I don't mind at all, Rosana! Anytime!

Jeff, this is as real to me today, as when it happened for many reasons.

My Mum was living in NJ at the time and my 2 brothers are New Yorkers,
Both my Mum and elder brother were in the medical profession, My Mum being a Nurse/Midwife and First Responder.

One of my cousins was actually in buildings down from the WTC when it happened.
I had spoken to her 1 hour prior and was actually at the gym that morning and watched the events unfold in front of my eyes on TV.

The shock and numbness still overcome me as I write and fear still grapples my cousin from time to time.

Growing up in a Military family, (UK, US and Trinidad), this really hit hard.

I have visited NY and even as a mere visitor, the feeling was haunting.

May we always remember the lives we lost and the sacrifices that were made to protect our freedom.

Cassi

I know what you mean, Cassi! Very sad! I still plan to visit the memorial one of these days!

Jeff

You should, Jeff.
Everyone should.

Cassi

I will!

I remember every minute of that fateful day. I was driving home from work listening to the news about an airplane that had crashed into the Empire State building. I thought that it was a small pirvate plane that had a serious accident.

When I got home I turned on the news on TV I realized the enormity of the terror attack. Right then I was called back to work on high alert, and was thinking that now the s... had really hit the fan and USA was under attack, and as an allied my country was mobilizing in case of attack on our country as well....

I get tears in my eyes and my throat swells up writing this.

My deepest condolances to all tose who lost there loved ones and friends as a result of the attack🌹.

My deepest respect for all those brave men and women who put their own lives at risk to save as many of their fellow citizens❤️.

May we never forget.

-Roy-

Very true, Roy! We must NEVER forget! Thank you for your story!

Jeff

It was indeed one of the most heart wrenching days in our country’s history. The unsung hero’s then are still the unsung hero’s today! The men and women who get up everyday and stand watch and at the ready like the minute men, to take action first, with no thought of their own safety, but only how quickly they can rescue, protect, patch up and care for ANYONE!! in distress. I take off my hat, I cross my heart and take a knee for you any day, anywhere! First responders and public service people everywhere please take a bow!!!❤️🤟

I'm in total agreement! 🙏
