Some great steps prior to writing a post or page
I have developed a system write great content with indepth detail. I will also show you a few extra steps I take to ease up content writing.
- Firstly I read briefly on Wikepedia
- Then I go search out my photos which gives me more inspiration.
- Then I watch some Youtube videos (sometimes I include one of these if I find it striking enough|)
- Then I google it and read a few articles to see if Wikepedia missed out on anything, it also gives me inspiration on how to put a more casual spin on the post as Wikepedia tends to be too formal.
- Then if I need a few extra pics to match new info I learned I do it.
But as I mentioned earlier, I take a few extra steps before writing.
- I first compress my images (make them load up faster for readers) for this I use tinypng.com
- Then its keyword research (possibly done much earlier).
- Then the images are titles and uploaded to my site.
- Then I do the first few lines of the post so I can do the SEO work. I make sure to add my keyword/phrase to this as well as the title. Sometimes on a page where it is not possible to add the keyword/phrase to the title (the page title needs to fit in with the menu structure) I add it to a H1 heading after my first paragraph or intro.
- Then it is the SEO work, I do all the meta stuff, adding my keywords appropriately. The keywords I enter into the box also get added as tags in posts.
- The featured image also gets titles with the keyword/ phrase. This also apllies for the alt-text
- Then I customize the URL slug so it features my keyword/ Phrase. (Warning: never do this after its published).
Then it is down to plain sailing through writing content and all the hard works is done.
I hope I help some of you guys out. Also if anyone sees any flaws in my methods fell free to point them out.

I also make up a custom sidebar with relevent ads and a map for each post, I forgot to mention that
Yoast is good but I still personally prefer all in one Seo. They both do the exact same stuff, just the interface is different. You customize the slug at the top of where you write your post/page. It is just under the heading, you wil see the url and all you need to do is press edit. Don't change your adddress just change the bit thet comes after. the .com/
Thanks for sharing. But some of this is over my head. Not sure if we will learn this in the course. I don't know what an H1 heading is or "meta stuff". Hopefully I will learn this along the way (I am on level 3 course 6).
If you go through some of the more recent Live Video Classes, Jay will cover this quite a bit. Kyle doesn't go into the Meta stuff in the training as not to confuse anyone, its not a huge factor but it does slightly help ranking, its the all in one SEO stuff at the bottom of the page where you write posts and pages. Kyle will go into more detail about the different headings in course 5 (H1, h2 etc) they are just the different headings and subheadings but they have also a slight impact on seo. You are like me in the beggining.
Don't worry about all this stuff until you learn everything else.
Hahaha, yes, I tend to get ahead of myself which then causes me to get very overwhelmed. I have been using different headings in my posts, but I just choose them because I want the text to be bigger. Unless you are referring to something else.
So much to learn - a lot of it sounds like gobble-de-gook at the moment - not Premium yet but will be in next day or so!!
I've been premium since the beginning of April and I'm still quite lost when it comes to some of this more advanced stuff. Hopefully it will all come together over the next few months.
