Why is it assumed we all have email lists?
I don't know about anyone else, but when doing research I often get way laid and start going off in another direction. This happens to me a lot.
Anyway, When I am doing this sort of thing, one thing intreages me. That is email marketing. I nearly always look for ways to get a bigger email list, be it ifrom information, reports or whatever.
The thing is though the information always presumes you already have a list. Why do they do this? I want to know how to grow my list not some other information about already having a list.
Anyway, I thought I'd throw this out to the community here to see what your opinions are. If you know ways to grow an email list please let me know.
Regards
Janet
P.S. I know most of the usual ways to grow a list.

Hey Janet,
I understand what your saying because I agree with you. No one really gives training on HOW TO build a list. Just do A, B, C =list. I must be missing something because I'm not getting it!!!

Hi Elaine,
You are not missing anything, folks give info out if you have a list but not how to get one.
In reality, we all have common sense and know the obvious ways to attract visitors to obtain lists. I just feel there are some other ways to do it. But don't know how.

Too many people tell you to build a list without going into the details of why and how. I build my list by using ebooks I have written or ebooks and reports that I have giveaway rights to.
I have several lists each dealing with a specific niche. You build a list to build trust and offer items to sell to those who are following you.

Glad to hear you have your own way of growing your list. I haven't started an ebook yet. It is a plan of mine though.

I hear what you are saying Janet, the two seem to go together, internet marketing and building an email list that is. From observation a lot of folks ramble on about creating an email list, it is a marketing strategy that needs a lot of energy and thought.
Collecting emails for the sake of it, building that massive list of folks that are not really interested, or constructing a list of dedicated content fans. the later wins hand down. It may take a little longer but the return can be way bigger.
It depends on the content that you are offering, good content gets you open's and engagement and feedback and the best kind is the reward of a click of the mouse on that offer, bad content gets you in the spam folder.
Thanks for replying. Yes, I am after targeted traffic and as you say a list of dedicated followers.

Yes I have a comment box, but the only people who have commented on it are from WA. I am promoting WA so I cannot use these people for my list.
Thanks for the suggestion though.

So you are starting from scratch? I think everybody who starts a new website in a new niche will have a new list, because the list will probably be specific to your niche.
I haven’t started building my new list, but before I do that I need targeted traffic and i’m not quite there yet.
If you have traffic already then you’ll need to set up a mailing list form on your website to capture people. This will grow subscribers organically. It has to be opt-in and laser targeted.
Start a Facebook page and drive traffic to your website that way too. Do the same on Twitter and LinkedIn. Your list will grow. I suspect you already know that though.
Hope this helps.
Dave
Hi Dave,
Thanks for your comment, I have tried all the usual ways.
Just thought someone might have a little secret way to grow an email list, LOL

Wish I could find out how to grow one. I don't have a list nor do I know how to even begin one. I do know that it is the most reliable thing in internet marketing.

My struggle has always been that the key to building an email list is to provide a "freebie" that provides value. I've personally struggled with what exactly it should be because whatever I seem to come up with, is not enough.
To offer a freebie is great this is what I am doing. The thing is we have to get traffic to our website first in order for us to get any subscribers. And yes it is getting harder to find really good freebies to offer. Even if we build our own ebook or whatever that doesn't seem enough either, so I definitely get your point.
