If so, can someone tell me how?

I re-read the We Heart It Terms of Use, and they don't really guarantee that any of their images are royalty free. They remove themselves from any liability for any third parties that post on their site. They do not monitor the images. It is up to you to ensure that you have the right to post any images you post. So I would say that if you use any of the images without further checking copyright on them, you could end up with legal problems if the copyright owner becomes aware of it.

Personally, I'd stay away from that. Free may not equate to royalty-free

Actually, Judy, even pixabay doesn't give guarantees. But as far as a I am concerned they are the safest. I always click on the accreditation to be sure about requirements.

Thank you for that information. That's good to know.

I just Google for FREE Images and use them.

Thanks, Bill. I will try this too.

This is a great discussion thank you for sharing knowledge and experience.

One more thing to consider .. we heart it has a form to fill out especially for this reason. Sometimes people on whi take pictures from the web as their own & do not realize that they could be taking copyrighted material. When it is notices by the original owner they fill out the form & submit it to whi. So the images that you take could indeed be copyrighted & that could lead to some major issues for you. .. just sayin. I have actually emailed whi & am waiting for a response.

The images I am interested in could very well be copyrighted, even though they are widely published and very familiar in the art community. It isn't worth the risk to me. That you for your input, and good luck with your own inquiry.

Thanks for the luck wish IMN. I always need those. I did get my answer and posted a blog with a copy of my response today. Taking images from WHI could lead to some issues. I don't think it would be a popular answer to those who use it.

Ok, thanks. I'll look for it.

I have been using we heart it after barry suggested it the have lots of lovely free images

Yes, I agree, their images are fantastic, and there are hundreds of them - thousands, maybe. Thanks for responding.

I just did a post on this very topic yesterdayhttp://www.deanethridge.com/blogging-tips/best-website-for-royalty-free-stock-images/ check out Pixabay. It's my favorite

Dean, I just visited your site and made note of the 3 sites you mentioned in there. I will try all of them. Thank you for your help.

Be careful. The bottom of the webpage says that all images are copyrighted by the author. Reading the fine print keeps you out of trouble!

Thanks ASeabolt! I just saw that after you posted this. Certainly do not want to go there.

Yes, thanks, ASeabolt. I have been unsuccessful so far in downloading any of the pictures, even the ones I thought would NOT be copyrighted. So I am doing something wrong. Or right, depending on your perspective.

Hi IMN! I was just going through the "Terms of Service" on the we heart it website & I think that there might be copyright issues if you do decide to use someone else's images. You might want to take a look at it.

I will read them again. Thanks.

Yes I do it all the time, that's why they have a share button, it is designed to do this other wise it would not say, "please share this image" and give you the ability to do it, the site would not be able to operate if it was illegal to down load images from we heart it, it is image sharing social media site that is what it is for
Just like u tube, once a video goes on u tube it is public property and you can put u tube videos on your site
We heart is a public image sharing site like u tube but for images not videos

Barry

Hi Barry. I tried to share via email, but I could only get the link, not the picture itself. What am I missing?

Just e mail it to your g-mail account then it will appear as an e mail the picture will be in the email I do this all the time
Click on the share icon in the right hand bottom of the image and it gives you 4 options "Facebook" "twitter" "tumbler" and e-mail -- click on, email then enter your e mail address and click send

Barry

Barry, I have tried this several times, with different images and 2 email addresses. It doesn't send them. They never show up in my inbox. So I'm thinking the problem is not with We Heart It, but with my emails. I don't know. Still working on it.

Try looking in your spam folders and all other folders in your email account

Barry

Not there.

Then all I can suggest is check the exact spelling of your e-mail address and if that does not work use g mail, I use this and it works so maybe try that

Barry

I have tried so many times now. I have tried to send images to both my aol account and my g mail account. Nothing is getting through. So I am giving up, because I have spent way too much time on this. I will go in a different direction to get images. I believe you are right that there are many images on there that can legally be used without copyright issues, but I'm worried about those that have been posted by people that aren't aware of copyright laws and would not be aware they were in violation of anything. I just want to thank you for all your help and your time spent in trying to help me figure it out. I truly appreciate it.

Generally you need to be very careful about getting images from the Internet as they may be the property of someone else's. You can get into a fair amount of trouble if you do not have permission to use images.

Generally I try to take or create all of my own images. Here is the training from Kyle on how and where to get visuals: https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/building-your-own-traffic-producing-website/making-use-of-visuals

Also a way I have created my own images: https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/creating-your-own-images-using-paint-ms-word

Thanks James. I have tried the sites mentioned in Kyle's training, but I couldn't find the images I wanted there. I did find some on We Heart It. I read their Terms of Use and it seems to encourage sharing of images. I agree with you that it makes me nervous. I also like your trainings in Paint. I read through both of them. They did answer some questions I have had about cropping and merging, and I appreciate knowing about them. My site is about artwork, and I need images of paintings to illustrate. Feel free to check it out if you like: amazingartcreations.com. So far I have used mostly my own photographs, taken with my iPhone. I am not the best photographer.
