Google to show Tweets in search results - so what?!

Hi

I just wanted to share with you the recent news that Google and Twitter will be partnering so that that recent, relevant Tweets will be being displayed on Google's ranked search pages.

So what does this mean to you and your business?

Well, it is fantastic news if you are already an active user of Twitter, especially if you are regularly posting 6-12 carefully crafted tweets a day containing selected keywords related to your products and services. Whilst no one is 100% certain how the Google's algorithms will rank and position tweets in their search results, one thing is sure - if you aren't regularly tweeting, your messages definitely won't be shown in Google's search results.

So what should you do about this if your business isn't already active on Twitter?

Good question!

The easiest option is to simply ignore this development - after all you've managed so far without Twitter so why worry now? Hopefully your competition have the same outlook and maintain the status quo!

The second option is to sit down and develop an effective Twitter management strategy. Part of this will be to identify who to engage with on Twitter and what tweets to post to be effective, both within Twitter and Google. This strategy has then to be implemented and actioned daily, every day.
