If you have been lucky enough not to run into tech issues with your website you may not know about the fantastic team at Site Support.

As WA Premium members we have access to Site Support 24/7.

Yep no matter the time in your part of the world, day or night, if you need them they are there.

And believe me when things go horribly pear shaped on your pride and joy website you want some help pronto.

In the last few days I have had cause to ask for their help quite a lot. You see I bought a Premium theme and accompanying plugins. All good. I was obviously quite excited to get it all installed and to start playing with the various features.

Hiccup #1

Not all the plugins could be easily uploaded and I need to do this via FTP. Which for those who do not know is File Transfer Protocol - I know didn't mean anything to me either! But basically it

is a way to transfer files from your computer to a server.

Yep already it's getting too technical for me, but anyway as a life long learner and needing to get this done I jump in boots and all.

With guidance from Site Support I download FileZilla and transfer the files.

This is going swimmingly well I think to myself. Open WP expecting to see my plugins ready to go and .... nope not there!

Another message to Site Support. Help I don't know what I have done wrong, but it's not working. Less than 5 minutes later up pops the red envelope from Site Support - "try now please should be OK".

You beauty! It's all there and ready to be activated! Cool I've got the Premium theme and all the associated plugins sitting in WP ready to be activated.

Hiccup #2

I'm as happy as pig in mud, spend all day setting up the plugins, working on my fancy new Home page and fixing various items that haven't transferred into the new theme quite right.

Then I decide I need some info off the old home page which seems to have disappeared completely. No worries, feeling pretty confident I load the backup of the old site onto a test siterubix site that I'm not really using just so I can see the old info.

What The! Well that didn't work! The test site looks the same and blow me down if the old site is now restored OVER THE TOP of my flash new theme, all premium plugins are gone and I'm back to square one with an old site.

Complete and devastating disaster! This is on an epic scale equivalent to the sinking of the Titanic in my mind!


Another message to Site Support, tail between my legs as I ask them to redo all the work they have just completed for me less than 12 hours earlier.

No problem they say, leave it with us. Oh and by the way while your at it could you also upload all the files to three of my other sites? Why of course we can they reply.

15 minutes later - all done, everything restored and I'm back in business.

Hiccup #3

BUT wait there's more. Not to be satisfied with that, for what ever techy reason now all my posts on the site are returning a 404 error! Every single post, nothing works, all my content is inaccessible, all my hard work rendered useless!

Ummm "Hello Site Support, yes it's me again"!

And once again less than 5 minutes later they have waved their magic wands and all my posts are fixed. The world is good and right again and that sick, sinking feeling in the bottom of my tummy has finally subsided.

So the moral of my tale?

Don't be frightened to try new things you have the support.

As you progress in your online journey there will be stumbling blocks, there will be tech issues that are far beyond your level of knowledge, but you do not need to be paralyzed by fear to move forward.

Give it a go, knowing that you have technical back up of the highest caliber.

Now I'm not saying they can fix everything, or maybe they can, but I have yet to pose a problem to them that they haven't been able to fix.

So once again from the bottom of heart, and my now not queasy tummy, THANK YOU to the guys and girls at Site Support.

I honestly don't know how newbies like me survive when things go wrong with our sites without the technical support offered here at WA. Without them I would have a useless website, a not inexpensive theme and plugins which I couldn't use and 4 months worth of work down the drain.

You guys rock! Happy Days Indeed.

Hi Heidi, one of the aspects of premium membership that can be overlooked, it is like having our own personal pit crews, that help us to keep things in tip-top shape when things go wrong.

I haven't heard that saying in yonks happy as a pig in mud and they are certainly are when they get the opportunity.

Plugins seem to be the cause of many issues, my last one was with a third party premium plugin, it didn't work in a satisfactory manner, site support tracked it down to one line of coding which was not up to par, I wouldn't have known where to begin.

Amazing, we are very fortunate indeed.

It really is amazing, just Site Support alone are worth the cost of membership. As we all know if your website is down you've got no business!

Love your post, Heidi! Hate that you've had so many challenges though.

Yes, Site Support is awesome! I've muddled through a number of things on my own and thankfully with the help of the community. However, one big mess came from a previous theme I used and required Site Support's expertise. They were quick to respond and get me moving forward again. I'm grateful for such a great team in Site Support!! Thank you, Heidi! Hope all goes smoother for you from now on.

Thank you Colleen, yes I hope it is a bit smoother sailing from now on with this upgrade.

I now have to go through every post and page and correct any little anomalies that have occurred, which will take some time but oh well I am sure it'll be worth it in the end.

Hi Heidi I've only had one incident so far where I've called upon support and they were amazing. My issue was sorted in a matter of seconds. Great post thanks.
