What's the Longest Blog Post You Ever Published

I'm writing a blog post now - and it's 2,373 words.

Should I try to edit it down - or try to edit it so it's good?

I could (possibly) split it into 2 posts?

Your thoughts?

Thanks, I finished editing. I saw no way to break it up - and thanks to you wonderful people - I saw no REASON to break it up into 2 posts. Published. Thank you.

good job.

Alright!

Don't break up a good blog post unless you find that it's covering 2 completely different topics and should be changed into 2 posts. Don't break up a post just to have two smaller posts.

Most readers only look at 14% of the copy anyway. This means they scan the content. So you want to have good headings and visuals that act as breaks in their scan where they can then inspect further.

If you greet your reader with a wall of text 3000 words long, they'll click right out of it. But when you have short paragraphs, visuals, solid headings, it makes the reading and scanning experience easier.

Too many people think, ok, I'll just write short, to the point material, but those same readers that scan see an article that's only 5 paragraphs long and instantly click out of it because they feel it's not worth their time and is too short.

Google loves thorough, well written content that is relevant to the topic at hand. Keep up the good work :)

I think if there is a natural break point I would split it into 2

That would be up to you. If you feel that your reader will become bored with more content then split it into 2 articles. You should go back over it after you finish and see where you start to lose interest.

I have had over 3,000 words. If that's what it takes there is no penalty. I think as long as you keep the reader engaged it's all good!

It's up to you, like stated below that as long as it's engaging you can post it or split it up into 2 posts. I have done that simply because I felt it made better since. But it is your choice.

My longest post currently is 2,398 words long. I edited it for spelling and grammar and then posted as is.

As long as the content is engaging I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Take care.

Longer content is generally favored by Google. A 2,300 word post shouldn't really be broken up unless there are 2 separate ideas in there being featured. 1800-2400 words is looking more and more like the sweet spot to be in to get the #1 ranking.

I wrote one that was 6,500 words but I broke it into 4 posts. I may turn it into an ebook for a give away

My longest was 3700 words. There are so many different opinions on the word counts. I say edit and keep it long but I have only been doing this for 6 months.
