Living My Dream
I have been with WA for 15 months now... Hardly seems like this journey started that long ago. Yet, in the grand scheme of things, my website is still "new."
I don't promote WA on my website (though I wish I had the time for a second site so I could start) but I wanted to write this post to encourage any newbies.
I am a stay at home mom to three children. One of which is a newborn. My life is crazy. Really crazy. I started my website to help bring in some extra income so that I could continue to stay home with my children without any major impact to our lifestyle.
I made sales early on but the income was minimal. 6 months in I was pulling in slightly more. 12 months in, a little more. Now at 15 months, I am pulling in a comfortable part time income. I work less than 10 hours a week on my site as I don't have the time or energy for much more than that.
Getting to the point of a part time income is huge for me. It was my goal. And I made it. This is truly my dream. To work for myself. Set my own hours. Do something I love. AND be with my children full time.
So while I don't promote WA, I do want to say that without this community, I would not have known where to start those 15 months ago.
My 5 year goal is to be making a full time income (my youngest will be in school by then and I will be able to work many more hours). I am having my best month of sales so far this month (doubling my previous best month) so I am encouraged that I might even hit my goal sooner than 5 years.
I write all of this to help anyone wondering if you really can make money at this. The answer is that, yes, you can. I completely agree that the harder you work, the faster it will happen for you. If you are like me and can only give a few hours a week, then be encouraged that it can still work. It just takes longer to scale.

Heather, Enjoy your children while they are young. Soon they won't need you as much and cherish the time you spend with them. It seems to me that you are doing very good with your "part-time job". Keep up the good work, Deanna

I'm in the same boat with you.
Sometimes I feel guilty for not sparing more time working for my website.
But the more I think about it, I realize that my family needs me at the moment, the website can wait. Yeah.. it may not grow as fast as others.., but I'm happy with the result.
I hope more moms with small kids read this post, it's really encouraging.
Yes! As much as I would love to spend more time growing my site, my kids will only be little once and I am focusing on giving them the best of myself and a childhood they will remember as being amazing. Not one of mommy stuck behind a computer all day.
Our time will come when we can work and grow our businesses! I am glad you are finding the same success! You have a great site and should be proud!

You know, my husband was the most skeptical when it came to the idea of me making money at this. It wasn't that he didn't support me but he really thought I was wasting my time. He was thrilled that I proved him wrong hahaha.
