Putting a forum on your site.
I recently added a form to my website, http://mylifepoststroke.com I thought once I started to get traffic , people could participate on my site and would be a great way to get return traffic on my site. You would post something on the forum and return to see how others react to your post, same how you do on the WA site. I used the mingle forums plug-in. At first,I had issues with the sign in process, but hopefully those have been resolved. I was just wondering what others have experienced, by adding a forum to their site.

Yeah, good in theory, the only post so far has been my test one.i 've written my articles,blogged on my site, have managed to get over 280 raw clicks, with 20 invites and 2 credits since I started a couple weeks ago, but I can't get people to engage. I guess I have to improve my content to get people going. Maybe,post something controversial to get dialogue started?

I am building a website with a forum in it because it a site for teachers and we do have a lot of discussion points. Instead of flooding my site with comments that I have to approve and all these tedious task, the forum would simplify our networking as educators. It is also a way of spawning ideas from others. Aside from these, it will build your reputation and authorship in your niche whatever that is. I am trying to figure out which plug in to use although I read that mingle forum plug-in is one of the best to install.
take a look at my site http://mylifepoststroke.com . I used the mingle forum plug-in. I had issues with the registration process at the beginning. I got it fixed and now have nearly 30 members. My new problem is, I can't get anybody to break the ice to start posting. I've tried to kick start it myself, but no success yet. I can see people are reading the posts, but they just aren't posting themselves

I was able to get into the forum. I am not familiar with it as of yet. I browsed through the topics. Probably one of the reasons why members are not posting is that the topics are not relevant to them as they are to me. I never had a stroke so I can't relate. So, I just read through the posts.
Here's one suggestion I could think of. You may want to put your image in your profile. That might help so that people will know that they are interacting with a real person. It will make your forum look better than as it is now. Hope this helps.

Thanks, never really thought about that, I just figured they were tired of seeing me on my website. I have to check if that's even an option in the mingle forum

Hi, JV. If this question is addressed to me, honestly, I haven't worked on my website for a long time. I just recently got back and I am just about to start working again. But I unpublished the forum in my site since I did it when I was not well-versed with WP yet. I will have yet to search for a good forum plugin. Please let me know if you find one.
