11 ways negativity affects you

The mindset needs to be programmed or else external events can easily sway one into a negative spiral, this in turn affects one’s road to success.

In order to reverse the external forces one needs to work internally by feeding themselves with positive thoughts. This dilutes the negativity.

Some ways one can achieve this include:

  • Audios: The library offers free audio books and also videos, one can simply get an account and search for relevant content.
  • Videos: You tube and other video streaming sites is a cheap and accessible way to encounter motivational content.
  • Associations: Joining groups e.g church organizations, support groups, volunteer groups among other positive individuals. One can also re-examine those who you spend time with and associate with positive individuals. Finding a mentor in whatever business or desired area your interested or involved in is also essential.
  • Reading: The local library has free books, there are several kindle books online or simply borrow from family and friends. Reading positive inspired books gets the mind to focus on the essentials in re-programming one’s mind.

Lets dive into the negative problems created by negative attitudes, some but not all include:

1. You get what you give: For example when you give a nasty attitude to someone, its reciprocated, you get nasty . In life we get back what we give. Giving that negative attitude brings back negative reactions and comments.

2. Negative problems: Negative attitudes creates negative results e.g negative relationships. Negativity and a bad attitude can be transferred through your interaction with those around you and this affects the relationships causing a deterioration. This chain reaction causes more transference from your loved ones to others and this affects your associations. Letting outside circumstances affect your thoughts can be dendtrimental.

Remember It’s not how you react to something that is important, its how you respond to it that determine the outside outcomes in your life.

When you have unfortunate circumstances, how you react to it should not affect your thoughts, regardless of the circumstance. This causes you to gain control of your challenges and not the verse versa.

3. Tainted relationships: When you bring your loved ones into the negative circle, this causes a riffle in your relationships.

4. Less cooperation/ help: No one wants to help or hang around a whining person or rather a sour individual. For example as a leader, you cannot treat your colleagues as “subjects” in a dictatorial era. The “boss” mentality will only isolate you as an individual and cause deterioration of progress. Your colleagues will most likely do the opposite or simply not hid to your commands. Communicating with those you lead requires that mutual respect is in place for a flourishing environment; this leads to progress.

5. Bad reputation: When you voice your negativity, it makes others weary to spend time with you or be around you. This affects your relationship on a personal and even a professional level. This can also cost you opportunities that may arise from associations with individuals.

6. Trust Issues: Rapport is created with mutual respect and good communication. This goes hand in hand with a bad reputation. With a deteriorated reputation, you would see less individuals communicating with you and trusting you with the small areas let alone important valuable areas in their life.

7. Less productivity: This can be coupled with “less cooperation/help.” With less help one is unable to produce something substantial or achieve any goals. Being negative takes time and energy which diverts energy from producing positive results e.g flourishing relationships, financial gain, personal growth etc.

8. Arguments/conflict: Negativity causes one to “look at the glass half empty” and this can collide with individuals who are positive. A negative individual tends to spend more time countering any positive vibes and fighting a battle that was not worth fighting in the first place. The “am always right, prove others wrong” attitude is destructive.

9. Health issues: Negativity causes instability mentally and an increase of stress, this affects the body function. According to the American Psychological Association (APA)

Multiple studies have shown that these sudden emotional stresses — especially anger — can trigger heart attacks, arrhythmias and even sudden death. Although this happens mostly in people who already have heart disease, some people don’t know they have a problem until acute stress causes a heart attack or something worse. And once you’re sick, stress can also make it harder to recover.

10. It does not solve anything: Your unable to accomplish anything when you focus on the problem from a negative standpoint. You are at this point looking at the obstacle rather than how to solve the problem.

11. It consumes your life: This negative attitude turns into a habit which then becomes a lifestyle. You find yourself enforcing this thinking on every situation and everyday life events. Even small comments turn into negative ongoing conversations that consumes your time and energy.
