Not trying to mocking anybody
Hey, I have this silly question but yet probably important in line with our goal to be success in internet marketing.
Here at WA we have some of the keys to hold success as online entrepreneur, some of us even mastering them very well such as how to write a good and valuable content, keywords, niches, affiliates program, SEO, PPC, video marketing, well, you named it, WA got it. A perfect start, if I may put it that way.
But, something missing though (or maybe I haven’t got that area of the training yet), the tutorial about “How to Put Your Self Out There” don’t exist.
Like I said, I’m not trying to mocking anybody or being prejudice at some point also the fact that I’m just entering this internet world about 5 minutes a go (yeah I know, I’m a dingle) maybe don’t give me enough credit to write this :

Is It Easier For You To Get Followers On Social Media If You’re Hot Like Hell?
There, I said it! Once again, I don’t mean mocking or prejudice at all.
I noticed that almost in every social media a good looking very well presented profile picture has more followers than the one that lack of it even though the content has equal quality, or maybe it just me being mental here.
But, really, do we need to or have to present ourselves as the best we can to gain more popularity and followers? See, I’m not trying to mocking anybody here, right?
Well, tell me I’m crazy but I think we do because it's mean traffic and traffic equals income. How about you?
(Ok, now probably the best time for me to disappear from WA for good!)

A bit late to the discussion but here is what I have experienced regarding this topic.
I have noticed personally in the business world... That a geeky, toothpick who is male, with no education will land a computer job quicker then an attractive female with loads of experience and education the the exact same field but will not be hired.
Instances like that are very promote, Now if the geeky uneducated male, does get an education on the field, and is fully qualified, but is competing against another male that is smartly dressed and handsome and very charming the charming gentleman will get the job.
Now the ones who landed the job in the first place will be hard pressed to keep it, as they have no clue what is going on. But they get the legs up so to speak.
Now on the reverse on the beauty field, you are almost in the door is you are female, attractive and well schooled you have it made.
Unfortunately society is geared this way, depending on field the gender battles sometimes enter on any dominate field of typical work, then the overall attractiveness interplays, then after that charm and wit.
However if you can put yourself forward and positively reek a full powered charming personality, all that Almost becomes a mute point. Add to that well dressed, and put together appearance with your facade, and you will be able to overpower the natural prejudice that society is raised with.
Just my 2 cents...

My age shows my experience. My glasses shows I'm intelegent. My beard shows I'm wise. My poneytail shows I'm stuck in the 60s. Oh, wait, I cut that off years ago. I think pictures can make a difference. If you go to an authority site for medicine who would you believe more the old man with gray hair or the kid that looks like he's still in highschool. But then that brings up the question; Do you want an old experienced doctor? Or do you want a doctor fresh out of school that knows all the new teniques with little experience? Do you buy your diet book from a skinny person or an overweight person? Would you buy your makeup from an old worn looking person or a young hottie? So, yea it can make a difference, but how much ? Who knows.

It doesn't make any sense that better-looking people would have more followers. I think it's the content that counts, not looks.
You're right, Gordi. But as I said 'the person involed has already mastering... etc' it's mean the content and other aspects are already qualified. ;-)
Actually it does make quite a difference. It's no different than in life. The handsome outgoing guy gets more girls than the geeky introvert. The beautiful woman has men knocking her door down to be with her whereas the wallflower sits in the chair praying some handsome man will ask her to dance.
Why should we expect the internet to be any different? Of course the geek can get lots of followers if he writes intelligent content, just as he can gain many friends in life if he is smart or witty. just like a not so pretty girl can have friends and lovers. There is someone out there for everyone. But it makes it much easier to get friends (followers) if you have the good looks, wit and charm. Those of us who are not so good looking must rely much more on wit and charm (good content).

You don't need to exploit anything to create success online. You don't even need to use an image on your site (although I do recommend it for the personal connection).
Yes, images can lead to higher conversions, but they don't lead to brand. The help you offer people and the relationships you create do and this cannot be done through some sort of imagery or smoke and mirrors.
Don't look at other people's followers and what they are doing, look at your customers/audience and find out what their needs are and deliver it to them. That is how you create LONG TERM success online.
Thanks a lot Kyle, you're right. I don't mean to steering other people to a wrong direction, it just something to think about.

My take on it is Its how you present yourself. I've been told numerous times by my fellow colleague how beautiful I am not just physically but mentally as well. Looks can only get you so far. It's like a bonus but losses stock real quick when it cant be backed up and you realizes your dealing with someone with no substance.. I know I may be sounding blunt when I say this and I'm sure some people may not agree with me on this and thats fine because its only my opinion. =)
hey Maricel, thank you so much for visiting my blog (I haven't blogging yet since) and comment. This post really meant to expressed my mind about how the world unfair at some aspects. I was talking about IM, not real market with real people, even though the situation might end-up the same, quite shocking most of the time indeed!
This Sigmound Freud has a very interesting theory about basic instinct between opposite sex, my question was really about how that basic stuff play a roles on modern business as IM.
