First wall part 2 - the result

In part 1 I describe the challenge i faced and how I planned to overcome it.

Now I will share with you the results and give extra tips for overcoming writers block.

My tips and their respective results

1. Set a date and a time.

This worked well as I knew what was coming and had mentally prepared myself for it.

2. Set a time limit. I have allocated 60 mins for it.

This was a god send, my brain seemed to somehow dredge the depths of my imagination and as a result the time was massively productive.

3. Eliminate distractions

Again with no texts, or phone calls nothing slowed me down. However, I forgot to allocate some research time so I was on the Jaaxy website to double check what I was saying was correct so I failed to disconnect completely.

4. I will then not leave that room until the time is up or the post is done to a high standard.

I did both in this case, I manage to finish the post.

5. If the post is not done, I will post it anyway and edit it as I learn more.

It didn't come to this but I will still stand by the fact that doing something badly is much better than not doing it at all. E.g. doing a draft essay is better as then you have something to edit rather than come up with something perfect on the spot.

Some extra advice

6. I really recommend doing some exercise before you do this... I went for a 30 min walk at 1215 and then cleared my desk at 1245. Between the two of these, when I sat down I had laser like focus.

7. Also you don't want to be thirsty or hungry during the time so have a non-sugary snack/ meal and plenty of water. Sugar won't help your focus.
