eCommerce Sites Made Easy with WooCommerce
eCommerce Sites Made Easy with WooCommerce
Today eCommerce is all the talk of the town. You will find many trainings on Shoppify and Drop Shipping Methods to build an online income. This is a very good model. The downside is that most teach that you need to advertise and for many this is where they fail.
eCommerce the Wealthy Affiliate Way
Our method may take longer to build but in the end you will make more money on the products you offer.
In previously mentioned advertising model you can start with a low budget or around $5 then when you find a winner scale up. The key factor is that you are spending less on adverting than your product sales for.
What many don't know about this model is that in most cases you need to rely on up sells of other products during the checkout process to actually make it profitable.
Another tactic is to do the FREE plus shipping model where you give the product away for free ad your shipping is enough to cover your cost and the actual shipping of the item. Then again you rely on up sells to make your profit.
The Wealthy Affiliate Way is different in that we offer products and then use content marketing to drive traffic to the site. This way we don't have the expense of advertising and we make more profit on the sale. You can easily make more using this method than selling Amazon Products.
Make Sense?
What Does a Good eCommerce Site Need
When using your own products as opposed to affiliate products from Amazon ro Clickbank you will need some important features in your site.
- You need to be able to offer a pleasant interface that looks like a storefront
- You need to be able to take payment
- You need to be able to keep track of stock
- You need to keep track of things like taxes
- You need to be able to ship the product or notify the shipper
- You need to communicate with the customer on order status
Building all these things is a monumental task and that's where a really good eCommerce Plugin comes in.
About WooCommerce
WooCommerce was officially launched in September 2011. The plugin was a fork of the Jigowatt jigoshop eCommerce Plugin.
The developers Mike Jolley and James Koster original developers were hired by WooThemes to build the WooCommerce.
WooCommerce was immediately a success because of its ease of installation and setup and the short time to a functioning eCommerce site based on the WordPress Platform.
Sourcing Products
Unless you already have your own products that you want to sell you will need to source products. A good place for sourcing products is on Aliexpress. Aliexpress is a product aggregator that gets most of their products from china.
You will pay pennies on the dollar for these products. Most products come from the sister site Alibaba which offers quantity purchases of these products.
The difference is that Aliexpress allows you to get everything you need to sell the product right from the site and you can purchase one at a time. Additionally, they offer very reasonable and fairly quick shipping to the US using what is known as ePacket.
The Shipping Model for Outsourced Products
When sourcing your products from a place like Aliexpress you have no overhead costs. You take payment for the product then direct the shipper to deliver the product to your customer directly. This is known as the Drop Shipping Model.
It is important to find popular products that offer ePacket from vendors that have a high rating.
I can do a post on this alone.
The AliDropShip FREE Guide offers Step-By-Step starting instructions for how to use WooCommerce with AliExpress.
In Closing
The eCommerce Model is a good Proven model and many have made millions of dollars using this method.
If you take what you learn and skip the paid advertising and instead use the Wealthy Affiliate Method for driving traffic using content and product reviews you can place hundreds of products on your site and do reviews for each one.
The breaking point for a profitable Wealthy Affilaite Site is usually around 400 carefully built reviews. So if you can create a site use WooCommerce to run the site source cheap products and get a decent markup you will easily drive enough traffic to build a very sustainable business.

Glen, excellent info. As of yet, no experiences to report as I'm too new at this to have even failed at advertising model.
Well Marc,
You are at the right place the first time. Don't do like most of us and jump from system to system always thinking there is something that will give us instant income.
Trust Me it doesn't exist.
Not having to unlearn all the garbage is a good thing.

This is great information. I learned a lot. I am using the Woo Commerce plugin on one of my sites and it’s simple to use.
Yes Holly, Woo is a great company. I miss the canvas theme they retired. But they changed focus to WooCommerce and I give them all the credit in the world as they have an absolutely fantastic plugin.

Thanks Glen. I have a bootcamp site. I am a long way short of 400 posts and as such - my income expectations as well. Perhaps this model is better for me. We all want faster results with fewer posts. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Glenys,
Personally I think that the slower posting method is much better. It's something that once you build it, it will be a sustainable business that will bring you income for a good long time.
Now the 400 posts doesn't mean you won't make money along the way. That's the point when you have a business that can replace a job.
Hope that is clearer.

This really just set off the going e-commerce theme here at WA. Jays training was great on Friday and this blogpost really put the plan in motion to help people create the ecomm site!
I’m looking to do a combo site and think this I the way I can really extend my reach with th product sales.
Now do I have to purchase the product that the vendors house for sales or am I just advertising and fulfilling orders then making the purchase for shipment from vendor
Great post and thanks in advance

Hi Shannon,
There are quite a few ways you can go with eCommerce. You can create your own products and sell them. You can source products from other places. AliExpress was an example.
If you use dropshippers for your products you only pay for the product after you receive payment from the customer.
Hope this helps,

Good post, Glen. I am looking forward to Jay's webinar on the subject of eCommerce this Friday. I have sold jewelry for years, and could find it helpful to put some of these products on a site. I'll keep your post for reference later.
Absolutely Fran,
Having been there you should be able to offer a lot of information about jewelry.
There is certainly more profit with your own products.
