Helping other WA members or not.

Sometimes it may be annoying to scroll through the questions our fellow members at WA are asking. Some may seem childish, self-responding, interesting, complicated or simply useful. Then I’m asking myself if I should answer or looking for an answer and I’m trying to find out why these members don’t take time to Google on Internet. Don’t they know how to handle; don’t they have the time to do?Most of the time I neither know the solution nor have the answer to a question.

Then I start my searching on Google, copying mostly the question asked by the member. In 9 out of 10 cases I find a lot of answers. After scrolling through, I choose the most relevant or understandable and make a copy paste to the WA board.

All this gives me a double satisfaction: I was helping a fellow member and I did learn something new. So helping other members is never a waste of time but always a win-win situation.

Really like the last sentence of your post, it is so true!

Let's not forget that we all were beginners at one point. Remember the frustration of not being able to figure something out and needing any ounce of immediate gratification? When newbies are going through that the last thing they want to do is more research. I take it as a compliment that people trust this community enough to be vulnerable and ask for help. It's part of what makes us so unique!

I am so very thankful when folks answer my questions and I try my best to help others when I can add value. I do get annoyed when someone chimes in with "don't know the answer but good luck". If you don't have value to offer, hush and stop trying to boost your WA ranking with a response.

Wow, I guess I woke up in the mood to type this morning... Going to put this spurt of energy into a new post... Happy Sunday!

Very well said Tracy, my thoughts exactly! I think it's also because some of us just like to converse with other members to build a friendship as well! Sure, everyone is quite aware of how he or she can just Google the answer, but why not take advantage of the knowledge of the other members here and build a friendship at the same time!

I know Kyle and the community encourage new people to ask questions no matter what. I reply where I feel I am providing a useful answer. I don't tend to ask as many questions, because I do like to research and find answers. Not everyone is a researcher. I know WA can seem overwhelming with email notifications and staying connected. However, I try to balance this with going through "Get Started Here" videos and completing tasks which tends to answer my questions.

very well put and I have been through pretty much the same processes and thoughts. Good work- Andy

Human nature. It's easier to ask and get an immediate answer than to do the research. Many people don't realize the ancillary benefits of doing research, such as discovering other valuable information that may or may not be related. There are usually multiple answers to a question. That fact tends to be confusing to some people and enlightening to others. Many people are easily frustrated or expect quick answers in this push-button world we live in.

Perhaps a good strategy would be to post the link or links to multiple examples of the answer if you are so inclined. First, the person might get a clue and think "I should have found that myself". Second, you would feel you are helping without getting annoyed as you help someone gain skills and expand their own mind.

Good wishes sir.

I tend to look for the answer all by myself (specially on technical matters) maybe Google it, YouTube is more efficient since there's picture or live tutorial, or open some books or articles if any, etc.
To assist some other member with their (technical) problem, well, I have to admitted I don't have enough credit for it so most of the time I just quite. Or I just simply say hi to them is the least I can do. That's what communication about right? It's not all about technical, isn't?

Some people prefer to get the answer from members of WA because they know that they will get a consensus of opinion, which will be correct or nearest as can be.

I think we have the liberty to choose what suit us the best, Derek. It could be different from one to another, right? :-))

you are always right Gusti.LOL.

Helping is a two-way street. If we know the answer, why not reply and help someone out. If we don't know the answer, then we have a choice, should we do the research?

Basically, I become a bit selfish at this point. If it is a question that I want to know the answer to, then I will do the research and respond accordingly. If it is not a topic that interests me, then I let someone else come along who already knows the answer.

Hi Giludi - hmmm - good point - but I prefer to ask in WA because I trust the responses and the personal answers I get. What annoys me though is when Kyle has to answer the same question 5 times in one post, and doesn't seem to get annoyed. I am pretty patient, but patience has its limits! Come on guys - read the entire post comments before asking another question please. Then if in doubt ask the question again.

You know, simply people are often overwhelmed by the sheer amount of information they find, and feel they cannot cope with reading everything!

enjoyed reading your post and quite agree although I seek to find answers myself I think I lack the confidence to suggest it our even try it out for I knew nothing about working in affiliate marketing online, I have learned so much already, and have even managed to assist some people, thanks for sharing

Great point. I was just about to write very similar post. Maybe I will anyway, because I have very cute picture to add to that.
