What Has Wealthy Affiliate Done?

Well, it seems I've put this off for far too long!

I've been thinking of writing a blog here at WA, but then I put it off again. And again…anyways, what have I been doing all this time?

First thing though, a big Thank You to everyone following me here! I'm way behind in following people back!

I've learned so much since joining Wealthy Affiliate in August of 2012. Ha, it's hard to believe it's been that long since I've joined here. I guess time flies when you're having fun!

What I've Learned From WA and You Can Too

I started out here not knowing a thing about website building or affiliate marketing. It was all new to me!

I never thought I'd be saying I built my own website, but thanks to WA and the awesome community, I've had mine up and running since joining here. Plus, I've even made some sales here and there from the affiliate links. Not enough to quit my day job yet, but I'm more determined than ever to keep moving forward until I reach the day that I can tell my boss "I Quit!"

Sometimes We Need To Stop Holding Ourselves Back

Throughout the past year and a half or so, I've come to realize that I've been changing as a person. I'm not afraid to write posts on my website or comment on other sites thinking I'm going to say something wrong or stupid anymore.

We can be our own worst enemy when we listen to that little voice of doubt in our head saying "what if nobody likes it?, What if someone doesn't agree with what I'm saying?" and so on.

Yes, I was afraid to even comment on things before finding WA. Even my own Face Book page, thinking "they're all gonna laugh at me!" Ridiculous hey? Writing the first post on my website was the most difficult thing I think I've done in years. It took forever, and it wasn't even the writing itself either. It was fear holding me back. The "What if syndrome."

After arguing with myself, and I finally hit the Publish button on my website and guess what? The world didn't end! Nobody criticized me, or laughed! Once I got past all the doubts and fears, it got easier. Now, once I start writing, I can't shut up! Obviously....

Just remember, You won't get anywhere unless you take the first steps to get there!

Think about where you want to be in 1, 3, 5, or even 10 years from now.

Where do you want to be in your life? Stuck where you're at? Or, doing something you've always wanted to do?

Believe in Yourself

In fact, I have Wealthy Affiliate, the founders Kyle and Carson, and the whole community here to thank for giving me the courage to do what I believe in and make some changes for the better in my "real" life too.

For years I had thought about either switching to a different job at the facility where I work, or dropping my full-time position to a part-time one. I couldn't afford to quit or lose my job, but I had to do something. I couldn't take it anymore!

I had felt this way for years, but of course the worries of "what if" held me back from doing anything about it, but going to a job I was beginning to really dislike to put it mildly.

Well, just a little over a year ago, I did both. I wasn't sure how it would work out or if it would, but I did it anyway. I felt it was the right time and I was ready for a change.

And, guess what? I made it just fine this past year on part-time hours. Sure, it's been a little rough sometimes, especially with my hubby losing his job of 13-and-a-half years this past January, but it wasn't the end of the world. Things always have a way of working out and I'm still happier than I've been in years!

So, to any newbies reading this who feel they can't do this for whatever reason you're telling yourself, please give yourself a chance! If I can learn how to do this, so can you, all you need to do is try!

Don't give up on your dreams before you even start! You can do it!

If you're stuck on something, ask for help. There are so many here willing to help, including myself. It's what WA is all about, helping each other to succeed!

What do you think? Anyone else feel they've changed for the better since finding Wealthy Affiliates? I'd love to hear from you!

Thanks for reading and Best wishes to all :) -Sherry

A very good post Sherry and all very true. I have really enjoyed my time here at WA and look forward to writing posts for my blog and following Kyle's training. Keep going the way you are going Sherry and you will tell your boss that you quit.

All the best
Age

Hi Age,
Glad to hear you're enjoying your time here at Wealthy Affiliate...I've been here for going on six years now and I still love it! I'm sure you'll reach your goals and then some as you follow through with Kyle's training here...you never know where it may lead!

Although I'm still doing part time work at my job, which is my own fault there...changed to a different niche, plus not long after writing this post here, I ended up not working on things much for a year or more due to family illnesses. However, I'm thinking the day I can tell my boss "I quit" is coming soon...hopefully within the year, but we'll see.

Anyways, I'll be looking forward to hearing of your journey here as you follow the training...and, I can't wait to hear of your success as well!

Thanks for stopping by and the kind words!
Best wishes :) ~Sherry

Wealthy Affiliate was a breath of fresh air in my life, I look forward to getting up in the morning and seeing what happened in the WA world overnight, and writing my blog daily. So much to say and so little time.

Hi Carl, I agree wholeheartedly on that... It's been such an inspiration for myself as well in all the years I've been a member here...I don't know what I'd ever do without it! I'd be lost, lol!

Best wishes :) ~Sherry

For anyone still chained to employer paid minimum income, having the WA as your back up plan is the pathway to freedom.
Kudos to your courage, your insight and most of all belief you can do it with help from your community of friends. ^_~

Hi Caylynn,
I couldn't agree more! WA surely is the pathway to freedom. Just as long as we keep doing the trainings and learning new things we'll get there.

It's such an awesome place to be with great people to share our stories and ideas. Plus, everyone here is so willing to help one another out. That's why I love it here!
Thanks for reading and commenting! Best wishes! :) -Sherry

Hi Thomas,
Thank you for reading and the kind comment! Take care and best wishes! :) -Sherry

Now see, that was not that hard was it? :)
Good points and thanks for sharing!

Hi Shawn,

Lol, no, it wasn't that hard at all! So ridiculous that it took me this long to write a post here. The Great Procrastinator should be my nickname for this one, haha. I'd mean to and then somehow I'd find some excuse or another as to why I couldn't get this done.
Thanks so much for commenting, I truly appreciate it! Best wishes to you! :) -Sherry

Glad you broke the ice :)

Sherry, gaining confidence takes different amounts of time for different people. As long as you can continue to progress you will benefit!

Hi Terea,

Glad to hear from you! Yes, it took me a long time to gain much confidence in myself. Life is too short to be worried about what other people may think about something I may say or do. So what if they laugh or don't agree. That's just their opinion.
Thanks for commenting, I do appreciate it! Best wishes to you! :) -Sherry

Hi Sherry, I agree with you that confidence is a huge problem for many people, myself included. Many people have given up here at WA because they did not believe in themselves in my opinion. Your story is inspirational Sherry, and I wish you the best of luck.

Hi acoolmil,

I'm glad to hear you found it inspiring! Before finding WA, I didn't have very much confidence in myself at all. Actually being able to learn how to do something such as building a website and accomplishing it, made me realize that I CAN do it. The only thing holding me back was myself.
So, if I can do it, you can too! Don't think that you can't do something before you even try. All it takes is a step at a time and ask for help when you need it. Believe in yourself and you'll go far!
Best wishes to you and thanks for commenting! :) -Sherry

I definite agree with you. I have made slow progress and it's all now beginning to make sense. My trial siterubix has been giving me confidence too. godspeaks.siterubix. feel free to visit and give feedback.

Hi Kav,

Glad to hear you're making progress! Sorry, it's taken me so long to get back here. I'll check out your site and give feedback on it as soon as I can. Possibly later tonight or tomorrow afternoon. Thanks for commenting, I appreciate it! Best wishes :) -Sherry

I like that you have had the courage to follow your gut and that it is working out for you- fortune favors the brave, as they say- great job and thanks for sharing, Andy

Hi Andy,
Thanks for commenting! Well, I'm not sure if it was courage or not, but I knew I just had to do it. It was one of those gut instincts when I noticed the opportunity for a different job at my workplace, so I went for it while I had the chance.

Now, I'm able to have much more free time, which means more time to work on my websites and be here at WA, and a less stressful job to boot when I do have to work at my regular job.

That was quick.

Hi archan,
Lol :) Thanks for reading and commenting!
