Still trying to verify website for affiliate program, need to find "root folder" now because unable to place meta tag to verify website
The root directory file is called: httpdocs.
See the SCREENSHOT. It shows you what to look for.
There are 2 ways you might be able to do this.
1. Use FTP, such as File Zilla Wordpress Tutorial Series: Video 4 - "How-To" Upload Files Via FTP 2. If the affiliate program gives an option to insert the code into the header section, then you don't need FTP, you can do it via WP admin:
Go to Appearances > Themes > Select Header.php file
It would be best to add this to a child theme so your code will not be overwritten when WP is updated.
Insert code as instructed. Save the changes.
Good idea to make a copy of the header.php file in notepad before you edit it, just in case!

If you're using All In One SEO you can do it there under the General Setting - under Home Page Settings - Home Description is for meta
