Pinterest The Hard Way: What's Wrong (or right) With This Picture?
(Title image by DALL-E 3)
Hi WA Friends!
You might say I'm using Pinterest the "hard way" because my niche is not ideally suited for this platform. Still, I like using Pinterest because creating images is fun, and it is easy to automate pins using AI.
Can You Use Pinterest In Any Niche?
Although Pinterest is ideal for certain niches, you don't need to be in one of the high-traffic categories, like crafts, interior home design, fashion, etc., to succeed. Using AI automation, I achieved over 600,000 monthly views and 1,300 outbound clicks on Pinterest in the relatively unpopular guitar niche in less than six months.
I don't promote pins (spend money advertising them) with Pinterest; it's all organic traffic. I'm not a Pinterest expert; in fact, I'm just a beginner, but if I can do it, then so can you!

What Makes The Pin Popular?
So, what's wrong (or right) with this picture?
The pin is part of my "Cars and Guitars" board. I started using this combination after discovering guitars were popular on Pinterest among people who like cars. The cars and guitars pins get quite a few impressions, saves, and outbound clicks. You can read about it here:
There are more people who like cars than guitars, but why not get traffic from both?!
So why is a giant monster trying to steal my guitar? It helps make the pin stand out from my competition and makes it more clickable, based on its "shock value."
I know the majority of my guitar-playing audience would appreciate it for a laugh. Most likely, a "more serious" audience wouldn't like it as much, and that's why building an audience avatar is essential.
No matter what your niche is, I recommend you create a pin every once in a while in vibrant colors with an unexpected twist that really sets itself apart from what your audience typically expects. Give it at least two weeks before you decide it's not a popular pin, based on the analytics (four weeks would be better). If it gets lots of saves and outbound clicks, make more!
Tell me what you think
Have you created pins meant to dazzle your audience in some way, and what technique do you use? Show us a pin you have made and state why you think it's unusual and helpful.
I hope this post gave you some useful ideas. I'm having quite a bit of fun creating pins with AI that bring traffic to my site, and I hope you are, too! π
Until Next Time ...

Hi Frank,
Great images! I would play "More Than Words" by Extreme (I have no idea why that song popped into my head) to calm the creature. Haha
You may consider yourself a novice at Pinterest, but we all see you as an expert!
Thanks Frank and keep on rockin Pinterest! πΈπ

Hi Tim
GREAT song choice!
I would try to mesmerize the creature with a little Joe Satriani - "Always With Me, Always With You."
OR, maybe something from the King Crimson "Lizard" album! Ha?? π
If that didn't make him give me that Strat, then maybe I'd threaten to hit him with a thermo-nuclear bomb! Lol π€£
Currently listening to Trey Gunn, "The Third Star" album. Check it out, AND ...
Keep on Rockin'! π€

Hey Frank,
As soon as I read Satriani, "Surfing with the Alien" popped into my head, quite fitting. Haha
Rock On! ππΈ

Well done Frank!
1,300 outbound clicks is pretty damn good!
And it'll only grow from there.
To add what Frank was mentioning about vibrant colors..
If you are using DALL-E 3, you can include the phrase 'vibrant colors' in your prompt and it should produce some outstanding results.

Thanks, Jay! QUITE a compliment coming from you!
Yeah, I put image brightness, contrast, sharpness, etc. parameters in the GPTs I build in ChatGPT4 for guitars, amps, and effects pedals.
Sometimes I specify specific hex values for the colors of various objects in a pin.
