Today is Valentine's Day in the USA!

What's It All About?

For those who do not know, here's what Bard has to say about its origins:

Why It's a "Major Holiday"

I don't need an AI to figure that one out. It's simply about showing your partner how much you care, and can be a great way to rekindle a relationship, too!

As we go through the busy days of our lives, it can be easy to take your partner for granted. What could be better than making this day all about them?

What To Do For Valentine's Day

Here are a few ideas to get you started. The sky's the limit when you think outside the box!

Go With Convention!

My dad always bought my mother two dozen roses and two pounds of chocolates on Valentine's Day. I do the same for my wife and get her all the goodies she loves from our favorite gourmet candy store, "The Chocolate Delicacy."

Over the years, we've bumped into each other more than once in that store, and one of us has had to wait in their car while the other completed their candy selection. Lol

I know the store owner well, and he has been delivering Christmas-time candy baskets to my medical office for years.

Cozy Nights In!

Dim the lights, put on some tunes, and cook up a yummy meal together. My wife's the cook, and I clean up after her. It's our time-tested method that always works out great! Cuddle up with a movie marathon and pick your favorites together. We always manage to squeeze one move in, with a bottle of our favorite champagne and giant chocolate-covered strawberries from the candy store!

Make a Reservation!

There's nothing better than having it all done for you at your favorite restaurant or bar. We go to a wonderful French restaurant each year and have a standard reservation for the best table in the place, which is isolated from the rest of the dining room and decorated with flowers. It's a two-hour, 9-course French cuisine sampling with wine pairing and surprise treats from the kitchen! Yummy!

Get Unconventional!

For those on the unorthodox side, you can always swap those roses for your partner's favorite flower or a cool plant they can keep forever. Ditch the store-bought sweets and bake them something yummy from scratch, if you're good in the kitchen. Do something totally unexpected for them that will really make their day!

Adventure Time!

Ditch the couch (and the couch guitar) and explore! Hike or bike somewhere pretty, have a picnic in the park, or check out a cool museum together. I'm not really the athletic type, but learning something new is always fun!

Get Creative!

Channel your inner Picasso or Mozart and paint or play music together. My wife plays a bit of guitar, and I've built her two instruments over the years, one with a little female devil on the back. Lol

Relax and Recharge!

Get massages, do some yoga, or try meditation – whatever helps you chill and connect. It's a great way to start the Valentine's Day festivities and puts you in the right mindset for what's to come later in the evening. A healthy you is a happy you!

Make It Happen!

Remember, Valentine's Day is all about spending time with someone you love and having fun together. Choose something special that shows them how much you care! You don't need to celebrate it as an American holiday formally; just go for it!
