Monday Motivation: 30 July 2018 Setting your Intention for the Week
This week's quote I came across in discussions online here at WA when I achieved Ambassador (rank 25) level. It is so true:
"I can't change the direction of the wind, but I can adjust my sails to always reach my destination." Jimmy Dean
Say this affirmation to yourself 3 times while looking in the mirror. How do you feel now?
This is one reason why my son and I absolutely love sailing. Sailors tend to have a certain level of chill factor simply because they understand in their sport the primary factor that enables you to move in the first place is the wind.
The wind you have no control over. Therefore, they have a very chilled out attitude to much of what they can't control in their lives and really focus on what they can control.
On Saturday, there was a regatta my son was competing in involving multiple clubs. The kids ended up out on the water for 4 hours for 3 races because we had about an hour of absolutely no wind. With the organisers deciding whether to continue or not. Just as the decision was made to start the 2nd race, half the fleet went in, giving up. For those patient sailors out on the water they ended up getting 2 more races in and therefore earning more points for this regatta that is run over 3 months in winter. I was so proud of my son, he made no signs of giving up and going in, he understood if he was patient he could compete. As a result in the last race he had no one else in his class and therefore he automatically won! Just for being out on the water and participating.

Nice one Marita - you go girl! Yes I realised I didn't write a 3rd post for last week however I spent a great deal of time understanding keyword research so I think that will make up for it in the long run

Thanks for that very timely affirmation Fleur. I needed it. I did try sailing many years ago when I was a lot younger. I purchased a small racing catamaran, it didn't last long. I had no one around to let me know what to do (there were only about twenty residents in the town I lived in). On one trip out onto the lake I ventured in to a deep channel, it's then the problems started. I had forgotten to insert the plug into the hull. The rest is history. Jim
Yes sailing can be very dramatic fortunately I have now moved my son to a club where there are many to assist.

I never understood sailing, but now I do. This makes perfect sense. I might even give it a go (or just make my kids do it ;) )

My intention this week is to get all my yard work projects completed while still getting to posts published. I have been doing a massive landscaping project this summer, lifting over 20 tons of river rock and old weed block fabric and replacing it with new fabric and fresh mulch. I got the front yard done but the back yard has so many weeds throughout the rocks. I am saving thousands by doing it myself, but damn is it hard!
