The last post
The last post
Today at the Menin Gates in Ypres, the last Post was blown in remembrance of 100 years of armistice. The end of WWI at 11 am on 11th of November 1918. More than 10.000.000 men died... a day of collective remembrance.
One man
The lock master of the Yser
Opened the gates
And flooded the plain
It was the beginning
Of a long resistance
That leaded to victory
Let us remember our allies
Who died on our soils
Brave men, heroes .

"Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning. We will remember them".
In Australian RSL clubs at 6 o'clock every evening, we stand and have a minutes silence for the fallen, followed by the ode, then the last post. This is EVERY day. They will NEVER be forgotten.

'In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved, and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.' By Mc Crae
⭐️ yes, The Lament -- when the bugle-er plays this piece -- it really is so sun-set sad to hear ... brings tears to one's eyes.... and that's why 'war truly belongs in a museum!' ... ❤️️
Yes... for us, we watched the ceremonies of commemoration that took place in our plains... very moving... and many tears
Growing older, it only becomes more poignant...
The story of John Walker
New Zealander
Missed for 102 years
Finally found and burried
With descendants
Of his family
A trip that many make to visit
Our plains full of graves
They come from all over the World
In remembrance

We must remember the worse battlefield!
Yes... it was the worst
So many casualties...
and seed for the next one
There must be mercy...
