Do You Have Credibility With Your Audience?
Last Update: Mar 29, 2023
Consider this quote: "To gain credibility, you must consistently demonstrate three things: Initiative: You have to get up to go up. Sacrifice: You have to give up to go up. Maturity: You have to grow up to go up. If you show the way, people will want to follow you. The higher you go, the greater the number of people who will be willing to travel with you." (John C. Maxwell)
We are taught in Wealthy Affiliate that one must create a "brand" that encompasses what we have to offer and an audience that becomes attracted to these offerings. In order to create brand and audience we first have to create trust.
Your audience will trust you if you assume responsibility for what you offer, and openly reveal its advantages and disadvantages. Start this process by trusting yourself. You need to believe your own position if you want to gain followers.
People will watch for your results. When they see that you do what you say and progress from this strong position, they become much more willing to accept you as a trustworthy leader. Such trust is the most essential quality of leadership you can have.
Promise, but don't offer the moon and all the stars. Promise what you know you can deliver easily. Then give more than you said you would. Your audience will react to such an action in a very positive way.
Once people believe in what you show them, they will help you upward toward the success you seek. Once they find value in what you offer, they will come back for more.
Talk to your followers. Get to know them. Make your journey a personal one, filled with friends and admirers. Learn their wants and needs and help them find their own heart's desire, if you can.
Once you establish credibility with someone, you can take them along on your journey. They will reward you with loyalty, because trust has been established. They will tell others what they've found, and lead more into your circle.
Cultivate credibility and find your influence expanding. Then your audience will support you as you move up, and you will emerge triumphant.

I totally agree, Fran. I am always trying to build credibility both here and in my physical business too, but that is always an ongoing effort. Thanks for this excellent reminder.
Jeff
Interesting and on-point share for me, Fran. Thank you.
I just watched a Youtube video for the release of John C. Maxwell's latest book, The 16 Undeniable Laws of Communication: Apply Them and Make the Most of Your Message.
Enjoy the rest of your week, and again, thank you for sharing.
Regards, Matt
Thanks, Matt.
Maxwell's book sounds like it would be really a good read. Let us know what you think of it.
I really like this! Gives me even more incentive to go get 'em!
I'm new to my niche, but I'm very interested in it. I'm always educating myself about it.
Thanks,
Teri

Spot on as always Fran and a fantastic quote today!
It's imperative that we build credibility with our audiences in order to succeed in this and pretty much every business!
But.... we must always trust in ourselves first, if we don't, how can we expect others to do so??
I have always been a huge fan of the "under promise" tactic ( that's how I like to call it anyway!
If one knows the job will be completed in let's say three days... tell the customer five!!
Then when it is done in three and the work is fantastic, you have repeat business for life!!
Appreciate the share as always my friend and enjoy the rest of your week! :-)
That's a great idea...that's an example of the underpromising and overdelivering idea. Good way to do things,
I believe so Fran, very much appreciated my friend!
