Dictation.Yes or No?
So I have been trying to get some sort of dictation so I can roll out my articles faster but this is kind of turning into a joke.
My computer is home built so it doesn't follow the standard rules for mac or windows. So it can be kindof a pain to get certain functions to work.
I did finally get the dictation to work on it but it's not the greatest.
I looked into Dragon but that's pretty spendy so that will have to wait a little while.
So I'm just curious how many people actually use dictation.
Chime in and let me know.

There is a Google website that might help you. Google Speech Recognition Hope this helps.
Thanks I will check that out, I am loving all these options, maybe I can find one that will work for me
Not sure it would work for me. I’m always thinking while I’m writing and don’t know how jumbled up things would get if I dictated. I’m thinking about trying it but haven’t yet.

I was wondering what happens when you want to erase everything and start over when doing dictation, it could get confusing
I do use windows dictation for short replies when in a hurry. on your PC you can just press the window key + H to open it up.
I use Google Docs... tried the microphone thing but takes some getting used to it. I have a Mac.
You're welcome.
I want to get to be more comfortable with dictation but that will a bit of time to feel good about it. I'll try it out when I get a chance.
I really like Google Docs and helps on research.
I have thought about it but that's all I have done. Pen and paper work better for me. I would be afraid it would pick up too much background sounds. Just the little bit of time I have used the mic with trying to take messages and text in Google I didn't like that. It was always getting those words wrong.
Tried and true

I am to the point where I am looking for a faster way to get my content done, so just checking into dictation options.
I bought an Acer chrome and delighted that I can speak like a raving lunatic when I write my blog. I can then edit my post before It published on-site editor.
Google doc has a tool - microphone and you can record your post
saves a lot of time
I type so slow so i was hoping a dictation program would work, I think I have more research to do
These things often have glitches or peculiarities in my past experience.
If you find one that works perfectly, share it, i'm sure many here would benefit from your experience.
Have a good one!

if you just spend a couple of weeks doing a LOT of typing you will be very surprised at your new speed, then as you do it every day you'll get faster and faster, I've got professional speed levels way above the average and do it with my eyes closed, but I started where you are now
however I did do a couple of projects some years back that required a lot of typing, I'm not talking an hour a day, more like all day for a few weeks
and do you know where to place your fingers properly on the keyboard because that is key...easy when you set yourself up right
I tried it recently, but didn't get my post done. Seems as if I need more practice. I think it will work well if I have everything ready to go.
I don't use dictation. I've seen some people use it, but unless you are also good at proofreading plus speak in perfectly correct English, it won't save you that much time, or you'll turn out junk instead of good text.
Yeah it's funny my test sentence were pretty bad, I would spent more time correcting then if I just typed it in the first place

I’m interested in the answer as well.
I know Kyle says he uses it and a couple of other people have found it useful, so I am willing to try all the options that have been mentioned here
