How do You get Half of the World Mad?

It has been an interesting few weeks especially now with an app called Pokemon. Yes, I have heard of Pokemon but that is more because my son wanted cards so in the last couple of years I just bought some cards for him every now and then but never paid attention to it.

Is that Bad?

No, I see it the same as during my childhood, I was collecting cards, football pictures (soccer for our American friends) but my father or mother never looked at it, not interested.

And of course, you are young you collect these, exchange them with friends and I assume that my son does or did exactly the same with Pokemon. Every now and then he comes up to me saying that a certain card had a value of £7. Okay, do you want to sell it? Nope, no selling but keeping it, maybe the value will increase over time. Good thinking.

Cartoons

But Pokemon to me is for children, although when you really think about it. Who does not like Tom & Jerry? Not sure if you can compare but Tom & Jerry is for all ages, so I assume that for Pokemon it is the same. I changed my mind while writing this.

Do I stil watch Tom & Jerry? Well, today a few minutes on YouTube but that was more because it crossed my mind and you know how it is. Something is crossing your mind and you want to watch or listen to it.

Pokemon Again

Coming back to Pokemon, you probably have seen the hype of Pokemon on the smartphone and indeed I have installed it also on both my iPhone and Samsung. Do I play it? Well, sitting in my lazy chair and it seems they come to me. I am not the one going on a Pokemon hunt. Come on, I am getting to old for this and therefore I just cannot understand that people go out hunting.

Especially when you read how “expensive” it can be. Half the world is playing Pokemon and I thought it was mainly for children.

Getting out of the House

It is a good thing for children though, they get out of the house and be in the park, street, wherever they can find these Pokemons and for that I would say it is great.

But it seems that I miss the boat or at least do not understand why someone who is turning to adulthood or is an adult is playing this game. Is it addiction or is it a virus?

Addiction

So many people who keep on playing, this game must be addictive. I read the stories people losing their job because they played while at work. People driving the car and playing the game. Just read and listen to the news and then this game must be an addiction for some.

Virus

How did you turn up playing this game? Probably your friends, your children, whatever the reason they have given you the Pokemon Virus.

Lucky Me

I probably keep Pokemon for another 2 or 3 days on my phones, then I will get bored of it and remove it. I was extremely happy when I caught 6 Pokemons or so and am in level 3, hearing my son that in 30 minutes he reached level 12 and there there are about 250 different Pokemons.

That made me extremely happy, I never get these 250 Pokemons, so time to remove the game.
