How do You get Half of the World Mad?
It has been an interesting few weeks especially now with an app called Pokemon. Yes, I have heard of Pokemon but that is more because my son wanted cards so in the last couple of years I just bought some cards for him every now and then but never paid attention to it.
Is that Bad?
No, I see it the same as during my childhood, I was collecting cards, football pictures (soccer for our American friends) but my father or mother never looked at it, not interested.
And of course, you are young you collect these, exchange them with friends and I assume that my son does or did exactly the same with Pokemon. Every now and then he comes up to me saying that a certain card had a value of £7. Okay, do you want to sell it? Nope, no selling but keeping it, maybe the value will increase over time. Good thinking.
Cartoons
But Pokemon to me is for children, although when you really think about it. Who does not like Tom & Jerry? Not sure if you can compare but Tom & Jerry is for all ages, so I assume that for Pokemon it is the same. I changed my mind while writing this.
Do I stil watch Tom & Jerry? Well, today a few minutes on YouTube but that was more because it crossed my mind and you know how it is. Something is crossing your mind and you want to watch or listen to it.
Pokemon Again
Coming back to Pokemon, you probably have seen the hype of Pokemon on the smartphone and indeed I have installed it also on both my iPhone and Samsung. Do I play it? Well, sitting in my lazy chair and it seems they come to me. I am not the one going on a Pokemon hunt. Come on, I am getting to old for this and therefore I just cannot understand that people go out hunting.
Especially when you read how “expensive” it can be. Half the world is playing Pokemon and I thought it was mainly for children.
Getting out of the House
It is a good thing for children though, they get out of the house and be in the park, street, wherever they can find these Pokemons and for that I would say it is great.
But it seems that I miss the boat or at least do not understand why someone who is turning to adulthood or is an adult is playing this game. Is it addiction or is it a virus?
Addiction
So many people who keep on playing, this game must be addictive. I read the stories people losing their job because they played while at work. People driving the car and playing the game. Just read and listen to the news and then this game must be an addiction for some.
Virus
How did you turn up playing this game? Probably your friends, your children, whatever the reason they have given you the Pokemon Virus.
Lucky Me
I probably keep Pokemon for another 2 or 3 days on my phones, then I will get bored of it and remove it. I was extremely happy when I caught 6 Pokemons or so and am in level 3, hearing my son that in 30 minutes he reached level 12 and there there are about 250 different Pokemons.
That made me extremely happy, I never get these 250 Pokemons, so time to remove the game.

If you get jaded with Pokémon, you can always go to a Comic con convention. Too late for the big San Diego show but plan for next year.

Not for me, never been a die hard comic fan although now I have been playing with Pokemon a little it is just amazing to see how augmented reality works in "real life", now it is only a game but soon it will be all commercials, dedicated commercials just for you driving in your car behind a lorry. What do you think you will see in front of you, a lorry or a commercial about a product you had a look at that morning in the Amazon store?
Not something I have got into but my daughter who is 22 and my twin sons who are 18 has been hunting for them if they are out then they talk about the ones they have caught. xx
My daughter is 19 and has major depression and anxiety issues - Pokemon is getting her out of the house which is a great achievement for her :)

Nah I was joking.. I did enjoy your post though, because my mother was just asking me yesterday what is this Pokemon , I told her I didn't know... Seen a lot on fb, but didn't take much notice of, didn't have a clue on it, I think the only game I have played on my phone was a marbles game , gosh I must be boring... Lol
LOL.........:-) i am not that up on mobile phone games either but the pokemon things, i reckon has saved Nintendo's butt, big time...smart move for them :-)) still going to give it a go when i get a chance though lol
I never understood about this Pokemons. I have seen where these people playing the game are told not to play on the Arlington National Cemetery. Who would want to play on such hollowed grounds? Also, I seen where a man was driving his car playing this game and ran into a parked police car in Baltimore. Yeah he was arrested. People are getting shot for going on other people's property. These players are going into hospitals to play. Security guards are kicking these people off their property. Seems like there is no respect for people or their property when it comes to playing this game.
I collected baseball and football cards myself, but that did not require me to be disrespectful to other's.
I saw the YouTube video that Loes published in the comment. This gives another opportunity because I have a site about "How Dangerous Is", well, How Dangerous is Pokemon.

Pokemon....haven't tried it but just today at lunch here in Hong KOng I saw maybe up to 15 young guys playing it on their smart phones. Oh well.....stay young!! :-)

Well, I guess that later today I will do some kind of Pokemon hunt, first, will go to the cinema with my son (11) and a friend of his (12) and guess that after or while we are walking we try to catch a Pokemon. This gives me a better understanding of what it is, and looking at my post, which I have not finished yet, I will get a better understanding of the dangers of Pokemon.
