Gmail tip for keeping ontop of the spammers
I have noticed that a few members are raising concerns about the authenticity of certain emails that they are receiving. Rest assured that it happens to us all. Like everything in the online world, it is how we deal with the situation and how we manage it.
I have been receiving emails from someone in Spain, purporting to be from "PayPel" you read correctly folks usual fishing expedition I think that we all get them. I find that when I am tired at the end of the day I can get a bit click happy, which at times has caused the odd problem........................... not that I am a cowboy lol.
Came across this really cool feature in Gmail which will identify if the sender is actually from the source that it purports to be from. An authentication icon for verified senders, awesome.
A lot of times spammers try and make spoof emails so that they lead the receiver to think that they have received mail from a verified source eg, Pay Pal, Amazon, E-Bay , Facebook etc. The usual giveaway is grammar, spelling, the asking for personal details.
Authentication Icon For Verified Senders How to Enable
- On your computer, open Gmail.
- In the top right, click Settings. ( the star)
- Click Settings > Labs.
- In the "Authentication icon for verified senders" section, select Enable.
- At the bottom of the page, click Save Changes.
Simple as when you receive an email from a verified sender an icon will appear beside the email, simple as so next time one of these suspect emails appears in your inbox no worries it will not have the icon so it will raise suspicion proceed with care. .
Happy emailing and stay safe online.
Have a productive week.

Thanks Alexander - one of my larger accounts is gmail and I get roughly 50 spam e-mails each day. I will add this feature, although currently the majority of the mails actually go straight to my spam folder.

Yes, it seems that Gmail is in fact, putting more and more folks in spam jail, the reasons and logic behind this one are another story alltogether, it just helps if you are running Gmail.
Thanks for the tips, google shut down a gmail account of mine and picking up the pieces wasn't fun.
