As a marketer, I think that I have missed the boat on some aspects of the game, blame it my age lol. Maybe we all need to stop and take stock things are changing so rapidly. If we do not keep abreast of these changes then, unfortunately, we will get left behind, not such a bad thing you say, but we do miss out on opportunities.

Really interesting, I had the opportunity to attend an event, for the second year running. I will try and create a picture with words, reflecting back 365 days , a warm spring afternoon in a garden folks in period costume it could be described as a themed garden party, as folks entered by way of walking through a rose arch stopping for a photo opportunity, sort of a fundraiser. By observation, there were a few folks with phones and I Pads taking photos in and around the event mainly younger ones. Move forward 365 days, the ones not using phones and devices were well and truly in the minority, my observation was that it was across all the different demographics present. Simply amazing, it actually blew me away the change was so dramatic"the Alexander was lost for words ".

Have you observed something similar or been in a similar situation?

I spoke to one person that was in the thick of the fray, and the response was that everyone else was doing it so they wanted to do it too, their aim to share on Facebook?

I am thinking what!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!........................ I know the person, even 180 days ago they were technically challenged and definitely Facebook-phobic. I sort of mentioned it, but they had this desire to be part of the crew.............it is becoming a big driver in our interpersonal relationships it seems.

Wow FOMO

For the uninitiated amongst us:

The Fear Of Missing Out.

Are we like sheep do we follow or do we lead the way, as marketers do we look at trends and pick up on them and incorporate them into our marketing strategies. Starting to think that we need to to make the most of the opportunities that are out there, classic. Keep up to speed with what's going on folks.

Not to say get caught up in it, but look at ways that you can enhance your business opportunities.

Just a few thoughts would be interested to hear what you think.

Have a blessed day

Alexander

With me as the "trendsetter" with my website, I'm not afraid of FOMO. :D

I really like that one Arief you have stepped up and claimed that it. you go and knock that ball out of the park my friend.

FOMO is no longer a problem for me. Over the years, as I've worked in various tech capacities, mathematics has always been a constant. New interests, new technologies, etc. soon become "old" as they give way to the latest and greatest. As I've latched onto the latest tech, I have soon discovered that my knowledge and skills have become obsolete. I quickly catch up only to discover that I have reached obsolescence once again. The cycle is endless. However, mathematics contains truth that will always be truth. The fundamental principles of mathematics do not change and are never outdated. Mathematics has cured my FOMO. :)

Hi Douglas, thank you for a very engaging comment, so true fundamental mathematical principles do provide that constant , such a very good way to look at things.

The thing is, we can't live in fear. It puts me in mind of the sales pitches, where you must make an immediate decision, or the offer will no longer be available. I once sold water conditioning equipment on that basis, and I never was comfortable with that premise, though I did well in the business. If I miss out, I miss out. There's so much opportunity out there, something else will follow. Also, if it's legitimate, it will stand the test of time. (TTOT)

Nothing like the cool head of experience speaking Rick, it rings out loud and clear thank you my friend.

Love your post, and that is why I have slowed down and back to serious business If they want to be popular then be so. But if they want success then work hard and go get it, it is there for everyone.

Hi, Mike, you make such good sense my friend it is about creating that balance. having said that the scales should be tipped in favor of creating business success. Thank you for your comment.

Thanks, my friend that statement means a lot to me, you have a great day and this is what friendship is about,

Hi, Stephen if the true be known I think that we all do to some degree an inherent part of the human condition.

LOL, this reminds me of those HHGreg commercials with the 'FOBO' - fear of better offers. Thanks for sharing.
