Hello, I'm Ellen. Thank you for stopping by. I'm a newbie here at WA but not really a newbie to the affiliate marketing world.

I began dabbling in freelance website design, domaining, social media and Internet marketing, off and on awhile ago... and although I wasn't committed to generating an income from it at the time, I enjoyed it very much. Now, my hope is to utilize the knowledge I already have, enhanced and updated with my membership and training here at WA, to earn an online income.

I've been married for 26 years to my best friend, Adam. Our little family is made up of "The Queen Bee" (that's me :-)) our 3 fur kids (all ginger colored, rescued tabby cats - boys!) and Adam.

We live a fun yet fairly simple life, enjoy cooking, fishing, gardening, traveling, movies, dining out and especially, whenever we get the opportunity, being in nature. We're very environmentally conscious. We recycle, repurpose and craft, making what we can, when it's reasonable, from found things rather than buying new.

Adam and I have traveled a great deal due to his career, leaving me struggling to find my own path with each relocation.

My own work (what I was paid on a regular basis for,) was mainly in retail. From customer service- to management. But after over a decade working for hourly wages and crazy shift hours, enough finally became enough.

I purchased a Home Inspection business back in the early 90's. Unfortunately home inspections were only beginning to become a consistant part of buying a home in the area we lived so, long story short, I no longer own the business.

Adam retired a little over a year ago so now that we've settled in a place we intend to live for the foreseeable future, I'm ready and excited to begin reaching for my entrepreneurial dreams, beginning here within WA as a new member of the family!

I hope to be able to help others along the way so if you're in need of any help and feel I might be able to point you in the right direction, please feel free to ask. I'd be happy to share my thoughts, suggestions and knowledge with you.

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover" – Mark Twain.

You can't catch the wind in your sails if you're not willing to take the ride to begin with. Right?

May your journey of exploration, dreams and discovery, as you catch the wind in your sails, be full of wonder, happiness and prosperity!

Broken down, this is going to be more than achievable for you (and then some). The internet has over 2 billion people actively search for and buying things online. All you need to do is connect with a few of these people each day to meet your initial goal!

I know with some hard work and persistence you will achieve all of your goals and then be building brand new ones. I am here to help if you ever need anything and you have an entire community rooting for your success here at WA Ellen! :)

I hope things are going well. I know you are getting rolling within the training and there is ONE thing that always tends to confuse people and that is "what is my niche?".

I know, same thing happened to me when I started.

I just wanted to reach out and let you know that I am here if you ever want to run any niche "ideas" by me or you have any questions about finding your niche.

Get back to me when you get the chance! :)

Hello Kyle. Thanks so much for following up with me. Things are moving along nicely so far.

I do have a niche I'd like to focus on. It's within the security category, specifically, home security.

I owned and operated a home inspection franchise many years ago (long story *sigh*) and having owned multiple homes due to numerous relocations over the past 25+ yrs, I'm fairly knowledgeable from a homeowner perspective in a variety of US regions and states.

What I'm not sure about, is whether or not home security is too broad of a niche to start off with? Should I focus on specific areas of the home? For example, outdoor security/lighting?

Your ideas, thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again, Kyle!

Yeah, you could do outdoor security, or you could do indoor home security. There are lots of cool products and lots of innovate products in this space these days and if this is a passion of yours, you should definitely consider heading in this direction. :)

LOL, Kyle - Outdoor security lighting isn't really a passion of mine. It was just an example of a niche I thought of, spur of the moment, concerning home security, because I have alot of experience and knowledge already under my belt.

I was thinking, as a woman, my audience might be other women who own their homes and would like a woman's perspective concerning home security in general. And really, not just home security but home safety / accident prevention too. Especially if there are little ones afoot!

I guess I am having some difficulty narrowing it down now though so yes, please, if you have any ideas or suggestions, I'm all ears :-)

It doesn't have to be a passion necessarily, but it can be a good idea choosing something that you are interested in.

So yeah, home security could be your direction and there have been many niches I have gone into over the years that have not been a true passion but have been things I have been interested in learning about.

Hi Ellen,

Welcome to Wealthy Affiliate and congratulations on making a great choice for your future.

I would suggest (if you haven't already) to take a good look around, then start the 'Getting Started (Level 1)'.Also engage with this fantastically encouraging and helpful community. If you ever get stuck or have a question, ask it and it will be answered quite quickly by the community.

Sometimes it may feel tough here because you will be learning new things but Kyle's training is superb, so you'll soon start understanding how things fall into place.

One little bit of help I would give you straight away is to suggest you add to your profile. Maybe add a little more about you the person, your likes, hobbies, interests, how you arrived at WA and perhaps your dreams for the future. This will assist the community when they drop by to say hello, and help to connect with you.

I wish you well on your WA journey, I look forward to seeing your progress and have followed you.

Best regards
