Rolling With E V
No ...
The E and V do not stand for Eddie Van Halen. I do play OK though, and besides there is no H.
The E is me, Eric and the V is for episode Five of this thing I call Rolling With E. Some of you know this, some don't.
For those who know I bet you're also aware I am a day late (no I'm not pregnant, and I don't think I can be) on providing you with my weekly blog.
For those of you who don't know, you should by now.
W T F ...
Otherwise known as Whiskey Tango Foxtrot or Water Filtration Device (someone will know what that is) , or ... anyway ... whatever.
I Learned A Few Things About ...
- Me - and my huge lack of patience with my cable/internet/phone provider.
- My cable/internet/phone provider, their shortcomings and how their shortcomings negatively impact me and my business.
- Internet connections in general.
- The language I am capable of.
- Beer.
So What ...
That's what I thought too, So What!
Then I thought about you all.
I thought about how much I enjoy helping you and being helped by you.
I kept thinking and I smiled.
OK Then ...
Yep, you know I attempt to let you all see inside my head and I try to be motivational and encourage positivity in my Rolling With E weekly blog.
And today not only am I a day late but everything sounds so negative in my blog so far.
It's Not Negative ...
because I choose it not to be ...
I took charge and I changed what I could.
Some detail on the things I mentioned I learned above:
- I've taken so much (insert your own expletive here) from my cable/internet/phone that I am ready to go off the grid.
- They Stink Big Time!
- I found that my IP address, and most folks IP addresses are dynamic not static. Dynamic meaning my IP address can change at any time and is 100% out of my control. If you're wondering what your IP address is just type 'what is my IP address' in Google search. Also, If your wondering how fast your internet service is you can search 'Speed test' in Google. - neat stuff really!
- Well I was a sailor for (supply another expletive here) sake, would you expect any less from me?
- It's Really Good!
I hope to see you all next week an wish you all the best!
Thank you for making it to the end of Rolling With E Episode V. Until next week ..........

Boogie is cool and fun to play. I haven't done it in so long ... I'll need to test my chops again.
Thanks Marty.

Does it really matter if your IP address is static or dynamic? I've had the same IP address for years. The main reason I would want a 'permanently static' IP address would be if I was using my home computer to host my websites. Am I missing something?
Thanks for sharing another Rolling With E.
Marion
I just asked the same question, did not see you already asked...
The only reason I can think of is that he filters his traffic for Google analytics on the IP of his internet provider and not by excluding the internal network...
Grtz,
Bert
Thanks Marion!
Nope, you're not missing anything. I was just passing along some stuff I'd learned about DCHP and the internet in general. Although, Bert has a good point about AdSense and filtering out your own IP address ... could be problems as IP is dynamic.
E
You know what Bert, I'd never thought of that with AdSense, and yes I do filter out my own IP ... which I now know may not be accomplishing jack. lol
I wonder if there is a different protocol I could filter to make sure AdSense doesn't see my site views ... I've got some thinking to do.
Thanks man!

I like your quote of the week...extremely correct. Like music...if it is pleasing to the ear,,,you hit the right note.
Thank you Coney! I was teaching my father to play the guitar and he had asked me how to know if he was playing a chord. My response to him, every group of notes make a chord ... some chords just sound good and some sound like noise.
This translates to business as well. I'm not saying to break the law or do unethical or immoral deeds but if it feels right then it is right.
