Google chasing Facebook

I recently read an article in The Wall Street Journal about Google working on a "new mobile messaging service" in effort to "catch up" with Facebook.

What Does This Mean For Us?

Well, when large companies battle each-other history tells us that it often ends up benefiting the masses so the same should hold true with Google chasing Facebook even though it is not a true war per se.

We, as consumers, and we, as marketers, will have more options and more opportunity as Google rolls out their new mobile messaging service.

Sharpen Your Mobile Marketing Chops

because the Google train is coming and you don't want to be left behind.

It is certainly unclear what exactly opportunities lie ahead for online marketers with Google's new tool though there will be some for sure. Being prepared is key. Keep you eyes peeled for an upcoming training I am currently working on for some tips.

And with this, I leave you with the question I started this blog with . . .

Do you think that Google will catch up with Facebook?

Let me know what you think in the discussion area below.

Awesome E!

If anyone can compete with Facebook then Google can.

Rock On my Friend, Rock On!

Tony

I cannot think of anyone better geared to face facebook Tony. :-)

Thanks for this. Facebook certainly could improve it's service. the way they deliver messages is really confusing. Maybe the competition will be good for both of them. And for the masses too.

I'm sure it will be. :-)

Thank you :)

You're welcome. :-)

Good to see companies still trying to compete, if they do fail or can't keep up, hopefully there will be advances made in certain areas that can be adopted or improved upon by others. Always helps to improve things and move us along.

Right on! :-)

I think it will be hard, but you never know.
Xin

Good things are never easy. :-)

I don't know. Many big pioneers died because they are too late to adapt. Like Kodak and Nokia. They were big in their field.
I think if Facebook keeps evolving, they will still be a step ahead.

And so do us.

I'm not sure about Nokia but Kodak was not all due to adapting too late. The Kodak CEO made a fatal error in judgement by selling off the companies big money maker (medical imaging) in order to fund building digital cameras. Simply a dumb idea.

Personally, I think FB is imploding not evolving. :-)

Competition is good! Godd for all of us!! Cheers and happy holidays!! Dave : )

Right on Dave. Cheers man. :-)

Can't wait to see your training regarding this :-) thanks

Me either. :-)

I think all those social media sites are doomed to fail due to the advertising branche, that will spoil them and eventually cost them their success

Idk Google plus really penalize you for over advertising so it may really weed it out.

1

Yes our advertisements, but do they have that policy for themselves too:)) When I search on Google for some products, and I open my FB account after that, the product is pushed with force through my throat

1

Yea that won't change. Same thing for me. If I look at a item I'm promoting on my site I notice Facebook trying hard to sell me that exact item.

I'm a hard sell but Google will no doubt be as big brother or more than Facebook.

1

So true, Loes, they haunt you everywhere! It's a turn off big time!

1

I think they kill their own baby William

1

I'm with you Loes, FB is digging their own hole . . . and they have no where near the power of a search engine such as Google.

Social media in general will grow cumbersome on folks as more of their control and privacy is stripped away and FB is the champ at taking both.

Hey E,
I really am not sure if it will catch up with Facebook! I am sure if it all works as reported, it will give Facebook a run!
Thanks for sharing.
Sheila

It should I suspect Sheila.
