Introducing the New WA Keyword Wizard
What is the WA Keyword Wizard? The WA Keyword Wizard is a companion to the WA Keyword tool. You may be thinking, "the WA Keyword Tool works great", so why does it need a companion? I agree the WA Keyword Tool is great and so far I like it better than any other keyword tool that I have used, with Jaaxy being the exception, of course. Learn more about the Jaaxy Keyword Tool Here.
But, there is something missing from the tool that Jaaxy already has. The missing element presents itself when you save your keyword list in the WA Keyword Tool. You may have noticed that it does not save any competition data at all, so when you refer back to these list you have to look up the competitors all over again if you don't remember that off the top of your head. Most of us can't remember that much data, so I created the WA Keyword Wizard to help solve this problem. The wizard is an excel spreadsheet where you can enter all of the data provided from the WA Keyword Tool, including the competition data you discovered while performing keyword research.
The wizard analyzes this data and tells you which keywords you should be targeting based on the guidelines provided here in WA for keyword research. Those guidelines, of course being, find keywords with at least 50 searches a month and with competition of 300 or less. The instructions on how to use it are built right into the Wizard, so it should be a snap to get it up and running. The point I am trying to make is that there are only 40 searches a month for this phrase not 50 or more as specified and it still gives a "Yes" decision.Sorry if I am missing the obvious. I did use Jaaxy but found my budget did not quite stretch that far every month.
Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I have made some significant changes to the WA Keyword Wizard. One of which was to rework the formulas to provide more accurate results.
I also extended the number of rows to 500 for webmasters that need to build larger campaigns.
If a keyword has 40 + searches a month and competitors of 400 or less, it rates the keyword as a Good Keyword and highlights it in yellow so you can still use it in your campaign if you desire.
If a keyword has 50 + searches a month and competitors of 300 or less, it rates the keyword as a Great Keyword and highlights it in green. These type of keywords should be your 1st choice to use in your campaign as they are higher quality keywords.
If a keyword does not meet the conditions of the formulas above then the rating is displayed as Bad Keyword and it is also highlighted in red, so you know not to use it.

Thanks, this adds a nice feature to the WA tool. Of course all of this is available at Jaaxy but if you are using the WA tool this is a nice addition.
Right now I have to use the WA tool and that is why I created this resource. I know other members that are just starting out may need something like this as well, so I thought I would share it with them. One day I hope to upgrade to using Jaaxy.
I entered this phrase :
"join wealthy affiliate" - Monthly Searches "40" , Estimated Traffic "7" , Your Competition "172" , Should I Use This Keyword "Yes"
Is this correct with only "40" Monthly Searches?
Doesn't your formula have to satisfy monthly searches and competition
I wanted to attach a screenshot but I am not sure how to do it , if it is possible .
In one place in the WA Keyword Training it says to make sure that keywords have 40 or more monthly searches and competition of 400 or less. In another it says make sure there are 50 searches per month and competition of 300 or less. I just chose to use the later formula in the Keyword Wizard.
And yes the formula does satisfy both search and competition criteria. It checks to see if your keyword has 50 or more searches per month and if your competition is 300 or less. If that criteria is met it says to use the keyword, if not it says not to use the keyword, but sometimes you have to use your own discretion and decide whether to use a keyword or not.
If you decide to use your own discretion then just remember to shoot for 40 searches per month / competition of 400 or less. I thought about incorporating both formulas into the excel spreadsheet and may do so with a later revision. If I decide to do that I will change the rating system to say great keyword for the 50/300 formula and good keyword for the 40/400 formula and bad for everything that falls below either of these two conditions.
I manually record that information in an Excel worksheet, but that is a lot of work. Is the wizard currently available and if so, where?
The wizard is built and I am about to make the download link available. You will still have to enter data manually as this is an excel spreadsheet as well. Do me a favor, if you will, and at least try it out and let me know what you think about it. Whether it is easy to use or not.

Just tried to download the keyword wizard and got the error message saying it doesn't exist. Thought you should know.
