Preliminary Website Analysis

Kaju (jetrbby80316) wrote an interesting article about the Google Core Update and how it may affect our rankings on the Google Search Engine. Others in the past few months have written about this hence it was not unusual for Kaju to do so.

However, he had a different angle on it. His conclusion was that this new update placed small MMO sites at a disadvantage specifically in Google. He discovered that none of his articles now ranked on the first page in Google. You can read his article via the following WA link:

https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/jetrbby80316/blog/google-core-update-what-exactly-is-it

This got me thinking about the results of my two websites. Hence, I did a check up using the Jaaxy Site Rank test as well as Google Search Console to see the status of all my articles. Here is my report that I wanted to share via a Blog.

Website #1 - Started In January 2019

Right after I joined Wealthy Affiliate, I started a website based on my selected niche in the Legal Services Field. The Front Page is shown below:

After writing 24 articles as part of my Online Entrepreneur Certification training, I changed directions. Kyle had invited me to participate in the Super Affiliate Challenge. Since I felt that was quite an honor, I accepted. That meant my focus had to change from my legal to the MMO niche. More specifically, to invite prospects to join Wealthy Affiliate. I created a second Website for that purpose that I shall go into later.

For now, I want to focus on the results for this website. The article shown on the home page is pinned. I made sure that all my 24 articles were indexed in Google and also mobile friendly. I was mortified to find out one of my posts from February 2019 was not indexed. I used Search Console to fix that immediately.

11 out of my 24 articles appeared on the first page of at least one Google. Bing or Yahoo. Most appeared on Bing (9), with Yahoo a close second (8) and Google a distant third (2). However, the two that appeared on Google were on the first position of Page 1. Total number of 1st position rankings on all search engines was 10.

One of my articles was fortunate enough to have the first position on all three. Let's see how these results compares to my MMO website, designed to promote Wealthy Affiliate.

Website #2 - Started in March 2019

This was a result of working on the Super Affiliate Challenge. The front page is shown below:

Note that I took the photos for the header in both my websites. In this website I decided to leave the Home page as my Blog Roll. Hence, the front page article shown will keep changing as I write new ones. I have created a menu system to help readers find relevant articles under specific categories.

Three monthly periods have passed since the SAC began. In each period we were tasked to write at least 12 articles. That is what I did so this website has 36 in total. I verified that all of them were indexed in Google as well as being mobile friendly.

Here are the ranking results summary from Jaaxy. 10 ranked on the 1st page of at least one of the three search engines, Google (4), Bing (6) and Yahoo (8). Total number of 1st position rankings on all search engines was 13, 4 being on Google.

Discussion

The question I have is how do I deduce in what manner all this information can help me in SEO and thereby increasing traffic?

I have no idea if the results I got were reasonable. If anyone reading this can let me know I'd much appreciate it. Kyle has said it is not unusual for a post not to rank at all. I can understand that.

However, based on my total number of articles are my 1st page rankings reasonable? And are the number of articles at the #1 slot reasonable too?

It appears that less than 50% of my articles have ranked on the first page in either of my websites, niche or MMO. Since they are all indexed in Google, I expect they must rank somewhere. Since I do not have a paid version of Jaaxy I cannot use this tool to get my answer.

I tried using Google Analytics and Search Console to find this answer, but failed to do so. If anyone knows how to use these tools to get rankings please let me know. Or if there is a lesson that provides the answer please let me know too. I have searched on the WA site and was only able to find lessons that teach how to use keywords to provide better rankings.

Referring to Kaju's concern about not getting any ranks on the first page of Google, it appears that I did get a few. Not as many as Bing and Yahoo, but it seems more than he did. What does this mean? Am I not as effected by the Core changes in Google like he was? This is all a mystery to me.

Conclusion

Having done this analysis, I am not going to worry about the results for the moment. Instead, I shall focus on writing more articles and learn how to use them on my social media sites without getting them taken down for violating rules.

You're most welcome Brian!

I am beginning to feel that I am running in circles. To be indexed or not. To use Google, Facebook, Pinterest, or Instagram?
I have decided I am going to keep going they way I was taught and see what happens. Gods hand is on it.

Hi Linda,

I know what you mean. Here is my take on these social media platforms based on what I've learned here, including Jay Neill's Friday webinars.

Google: Use Search Console to check for and helping our posts regarding indexing. After I use Jaaxy to come up with the optimum keyword for my posts, I enter that into Google Search to see what kinds of sites that brings up, In that way I know who my competition is. Here's a neat trick. Enter your website or Post URL in the search window using quotations. That will bring up all your posts that Google recognizes. If you do not see any come up, then use Search Console to tell Google to Index it using URL Inspection,

Facebook: Join relevant groups and engage with others by making comments. Don't push your posts. When you become a regular snd engage a lot, you will get noticed. You then ask questions or make comments and create a network there. In time people will check your Facebook site.

Pinterest: Kyle and others have said that Pinterest is the best site to find people to check our your posts by using the pictures on your post to pin it. I am still learning about this.

Instagram: this is a low key site to build a brand. This month Jay Neil is doing a whole series on what to do and also what not to do on Instagram. And what our expectations should be. Highly recommended.

Linda, you can only go at your own pace and do your best. I suggest getting familiar with using one of these at a time. When you have built up confidence and can make it work for you, then go on to the next.

It is in God's hands.

Edwin

Unfortunately, I am unable to answer your questions, as I have had some trouble in this area as well. Hopefully, you find the answers you are needing.

Peace

No worries. I don’t think there is any one right answer to my question. Not going to let that bother me.

Thanks for responding anyways.

Hi Edwin,

A lot of these ranking methods and statistics are above my head at the moment your MMO website is interesting.

I chose to promote WA as my first website because I believed it would help me progress with the training faster. Unfortunately, I reached part of the way and realised I had followed the wrong training route and now I am having to re-start everything again through Bootcamp!

It seems sensible to have at least one website of both types (OEC and Bootcamp) but I am told it is not a good idea at the start. At least when I finally complete my MMO website and I am ready to move on, I shall have a head start!

Thanks for your information, no doubt I shall be able to read it again in a few weeks and understand it a bit more!

Best wishes, Rob

Rob,

If the SAC wasn’t offered I’d be working through Bootcamp. I now wish I had gone the Bootcamp route as it’s more structured than the SAC. In Bootcamp you can progress at your own pace. In the SAC, the pace is set for you. Hence the Challenge part.

Thanks for checking out my website.

All the best to you.

Edwin

Thanks for sharing Edwin.
Have a great week,

You too Mick. Love the cat!

Thanks Edwin.

Hi Edwin, thank you for sharing this information.

You’re welcome Michael. Looking forward to that first sale! Cheers.

Thanks for sharing.

You're welcome.

Edwin, great sharing. I am still working on my articles to get ranked. As of now, get the articles out first based on keywords. I have no control on Google ranking so wait and see later...

Thanks for your comments. I agree with your thoughts on this matter. We have no control on what Google does. All we can so is to use best practices regarding the use of keywords and SEO procedures and let the Internet God take its course.

I wish you much success in your online business development.

Cheers.

Edwin
