I am sure that many members use Jaaxy Site Rank to measure the progress of your website. We may have different approaches and I wanted to share the approach I use.

This post will also demonstrate how effective the Wealthy Affiliate Training is as the results over time will demonstrate.

Note: You msy need to use the zoom feature of your browser to read the small print in the screehshots.

Examples Of Early Days Site Rank Results

When I was invited by Kyle to join the Super Affiliate Challenge in March 2019 I decided to pause work on my LegalShield business and start a new website focused on the Make Money Online niche. My main focus was to use the Affiliate Program here to enroll referrals to Weathy Affiliate.

It made sense to devote my first post to a review on Wealthy Affiliate. This was all new to me and I was just getting the hang of Keyword Research. The title of the post was:

Wealthy Affiliate Review - Is It Legit?

My site rank results from Jaaxy below told me what a poor job I did. I published this on my website on April 13, 2019. Clearly, my Keyword selection was not an attention grabber and was kind of lame.

I reviewed the lessons on Keywords and checked out an old webinar by Jay to help me improve.

A New Review On Wealthy Affiliate

About 2 months later on June 9th 2019, I wrote a brand new review on the Wealthy Affiliate Platform. The title was,

The Best Training In Affiliate Marketing That Turns Beginners Into Pros.

Noticed that this could be classed as a Long Tailed Keyword. How did this perform on the search Engines?

The results you see below is a screen shot that I took yesterday on Jaaxy. And the numbers shown have not changed since the first time I checked it in June 2019.

#1 on all three search engines.

Notice also that I didn't use the name of Wealthy Affiliate in the title, nor did I call it a review.

When I created this I addressed those who didn't know Wealthy Affiliate yet. All they were interested in was to find the best training in affiliate marketing.

How I Measure Progress Over Time

When I write a post, I enter the date and title into an Excel Spreadsheet. Next I check out the post rank for Google, Bing and Yahoo and enter that data into the spreadsheet. I am limited to the 1st Page data only and that is what I use.

There is one more column where I record posts that appear on the 1st page of one or more of the search engines and color that block green.

In this way I can see at a glance not only the ranks of my posts but also the rate of change.

Since I had written 83 posts when I conducted this analysis, I divided that roughly in half and compared how many Page 1 ranks I had in the first half compared to the second.

The results were dramatic. In the 1st half I only had 17 posts on the 1st page. But in the 2nd half, that number had increased to 32. Almost double.

Following are screenshots of the spreadsheet for the first half followed by the second half:

1st Half Posts Results

2nd Half Posts Results

There are a 3 observations I'd like to point out in this comparison.

  1. The 2nd half increase in 1st Page rankings is clearly shown by the green color.
  2. The 2nd half showed more 1st Page results recorded in all three search engines
  3. The 2nd half showed more 1st Pages in Google, that are harder to achieve.

Although my total 1st Page rankings is only 59%, if I take into account only the second half, this percentage rises to 76%. I expect that when I reach my 1st goal of 100 posts, this percentage should get even better.

Examples Of Current Site Rank Results

I'd like to show the performance of two recent posts that validates my expectations.

Keyword: 9 Factors To Get A Winning Edge In Your Online Business - 18th July 2020

Keyword: How To Elevate Your Business Using Imagination - 24th July 2020

Notice that both of these are not only ranked on the 1st pages of Google, Bing and Yahoo, but also they are in the 1st position too.

For those who followed my Think and Grow Rich book study series, nearly all of the related posts I wrote on my website are ranking on Page 1. And I have only written half the posts so far.

In these I use my Wealthy Affiliate links to take visitors directly to my Blog Posts here. My hope is when they do, they will like what they see and fill out the pop up form that Wealthy Affiliate provides automatically to become starter members.

As a side note, you can share affiliate links of anything on Wealthy Affiliate in Email Marketing campaigns, to illustrate your website posts when talking about specific areas in Affiliate Marketing. And if you share links to your own posts, that is the icing on the cake.

Takeaway

If you feel that like me, you are concerned your overall rankings are not what you expected, it is helpful to see measurable improvements as you publish more posts.

I'd like your comments regarding the approach I am using to track the ranking results of my posts.

And if you are not checking your progress would it make sense for you to do this too?

The Site Rank feature in Jaaxy is an amazing tool that may not be used as often as it should.

By the way, I verified these posts ranks by entering them directly into the search engines and got the same results. But Site Rank makes this so much easier.

I hope you found this helpful.

My next challenge it to reach the point where I start to see an improvement in winning referrals for Wealthy Affiliate.

I know that for that to happen I need to do more than achieve 1st Page ranks. This is a numbers game and my traffic is insufficient to get the results I want.

Hence, I am going to start using an Email Marketing program to capture leads on my website so that I can communicate with them to provide valuable information.

It's just a matter of being patient and not quitting.

As always, I wish you much success in your affiliate marketing business.

Cheers!

Edwin

Edwin - I think you are confused on the concept of keywords. None of these are keywords:

The Best Training In Affiliate Marketing That Turns Beginners Into Pros.
9 Factors To Get A Winning Edge In Your Online Business
How To Elevate Your Business Using Imagination

They are just post titles - no one will search those terms in Google, so invariably if you check the exact title they will be #1 in Google or thereabouts as you have no competition.

Your traffic is insufficient as you are targeting non existent keywords.

It might be worth you going over the training on keywords again here.

Very interesting, Edwin. I'd noticed that many times our keywords don't show up as we put them in our posts. I don't know what search engines do, but they seem to transform our keywords into something related. Even though Jaaxy tells you one way, I found Google comes up with other keywords instead. I hope it makes sense lol.

The more I dig into this, the more confused I get. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Enrique,

When you select a topic to write about, ask yourself, if you were searching for that topic, what would you enter into the search engines. It is more important to think like humans do than what Google thinks. That should help minimize the confusion.

Cheers.

Edwin

That's what I've been doing recently. Thanks.

This was exceedingly helpful. I think this is excellent "best practice" I already use an Excel Log to monitor and log my daily work progress, with WA: see point 14 in this blog: I`m going to add a tab to the Excel to monotor my progress.

Terrific tip, thank you Edwin.

Best Regards,

Trevor

Hi Trevor, glad that you are already using Excel to track your daily work progress. Maybe I should do that too.

Thanks for your comments.

Edwin

Hi Edwin,

Brilliant! I am one who loves to measure things, since what one measures is what one concentrate on and get more of!

How long do you wait before you enter the first result data on your spreadsheet? So if I write a blogpost today and enter the date and title into the spreadsheet.... when do you check the results in Google, Bing and Yahoo, before you record the results? And the "green" column, that is for a post that appears as #1 on any of the 3 search engines, right? Or am I missing something?

Also, what happens if a post drops in ranking? Or climbs in ranking? Do you regularly adjust your spreadsheet or is it just a visual of a set time after each blogpost was posted?

I also like how you were able to see that the second half of your posts were performing better, as your skills for keyword research were improving - that is such valuable information! That is exactly what Kyle keeps saying, namely that the more one practice, the better one will become.

I REALLY like this, thank you for sharing, it helps so much to see how others are keeping track of things, I REALLY appreciate you sharing this with us, Edwin!

Sharlee (Chocolate IceCream)

Hi Charlee,

Thanks for your wonderful comments. And great questions too.

I suggest waiting a day before checking your rank. And if it doesn't show, check back in a week.

You make a great point that ones rank can go up and down. However, if you use long tailed keywords, if it gets ranked on Page 1, any changes will stay on page 1.

In general, the more articles you post, the search engines consider you a serious contender and are more likely to reward you by not removing you from Page 1 once you get there.

I updated my Rank the day before I published my post. Although I stated I enter the data as I publish my posts, I have a confession to make. I was so busy writing posts that I decided not to update my list until I reached 100 posts.

Curiosity got the better of me and I changed that approach and did this update with only 83 posts complete.

From now on I will enter the data as I publish but I won't check the rank until a couple of days have elapsed.

And you are right about the green color code. I applied that color regardless if the post was ranked on Page 1 on one , two or three search engines.

Of course, you can use your own color coded conventions. For example, I could have created one column for each of the search engines and one for ranking on page 1 on all three. I felt that would have taken away time that I could be using for moire productive pursuits like writing more content. And promoting the posts in Social Media.

I hope this helps.

All the best to you.

Cheers.

Edwin

Hi Edwin

Thank you for your thorough reply and for clarifying!

LOL, I know what you mean - but you lasted well to wait until 83 posts.

My personal preference would be, instead of having the 4th column to color green when a first page is achieved, I would probably prefer to color the block green inside each the search engine columns. That way one can then see how many 1st page ranks there are on the different search engines.

I am so happy and so grateful that you shared this with us, thank you very much Edwin, this was very valuable, much appreciated!

Sharlee (Chocolate IceCream)

I love your suggestion Sharlee and will make these changes after I publish my next post and check the rank.

All the best to you.

Edwin

This is excellent help for me and has answered a question I was going to ask today. Thank you very much for sharing Edwin 🤩

Wow Lisa, that is like Serendipity! May I ask what your question was if you don't mind? You got me curious now.

Glad that my article helped.

Cheers.

Edwin

My question was. Do I type the whole of the blog title into Jaxxy to get my rank?

You can either type om the Keyword or the whole title. I suggest the whole title as that has given better results for me. In essence if your title is longer than the keyword it acts like a long tailed keyword. Try both and see what results you get.

Jay has taught in his Keyword webinars that our posts can rank for phrases other than our keywords. So you could be ranking higher and not know it.

I believe that we can find out more using Google Analytics. But I have yet to master how to use that effectively.

Your question was a good one Lisa. All the best to you.

Edwin

Thank you very much for the answer Edwin 🤩
