Going Hunting Everywhere

For the past few years I have been up to Alpine, AZ for a hunting trip. Normally I would go later in the year (when there is snow) for the riffle elk hunt but I have been invited up to stay in a friends log cabin for this particular hunt which is archery turkey and deer. The photo is one I took myself a couple of years ago up there.

This town is beautiful, located in the middle of a huge pine forest. There are pleanty of little trails all through the mountains, stunning rivers and of course an exstensive amout of wildlife.

I counted a heard of 100+ elk on the center of the town on my last trip. They know when hunting season opens and come together in the town during the day to rest where people can't shoot at them. There were three massive trothy bulls in that heard and numerous frantic hunters driving around them, admiring them from a distance. I have a picture of this somewhere and when i stumble accross it I will upload it.

The drive there is always long at about 5 hours, 7 hours including all the stops. However, the views on the way have always been spectacular and it is always worth the journey. This time I am leaving in the evening so I don't think there will be as much to see on the way up but the journey back will definatley make up for this.

I will be back and forth on some of the week days and then back up again on the weekends. Will be staying in a few dufferent places around that area. There is no internet where I am staying and propbably wont even have the time to be working online while im there.

This will be a new hunting experience for me, I have been slowly preparing myself for the journey and the learning that I will endure on the way.

Will be thinking of you all.

All the best and take care.

Enjoy your trip! We all need a break from the online world every once and awhile. Hope all goes well and you expand your horizons in a different realm from online marketing.

Hi, thank you. I had a laugh, got some great exercise and spent time with friends. It is really important to get a work/life balance, some people live to work. Been there, done that... and will never do it again.

I went to some of my most favourite elk hunting spots, set up some salt licks and game cameras in preparation for my most important hunt of the year.

Will be popping back up a couple of weeks before the hunt to check activity, choose best spots and build some blinds to hunt from.

Sadly I didn't even see any turkeys this weekend, we did get on a few spikes so I am going back up again on Friday and will be there for at least a week this time, maybe even two, depending on how quickly I get something.

All the best.

Hi Catherine, Have a fun trip. I have taken recently to thinking i prefer photo shots of live animals, rather than seeing lots of dead ones, especially in relation to endangered species of which there are more and more. Best Alan

No problem Alan, I am purely a meat hunter and don't kill endangered species. You can hunt mountain lions and bears here in AZ and I really disagree with that. All the best.

This sounds like a great time. I drove in the vicinity of Alpine year ago headed from Durango, CO to Prescott, AZ to meet a friend. I took the canyon roads instead of the highways, and it was GORGEOUS!.

I had a run in with a mountain lion....story for another day, but enjoy it your time.

We will miss you, but will be here when you get back..

Cheers,
Haven

Hi Haven,

How funny, we could have crossed paths already. Although I doubt that could be true, I think you would have stood out in the crowd. Do you visit this friend in AZ often?

I bet that was an awesome trip. Wow, a mountain lion.... I would love to hear that story one day.

Take care, as always.

Hey Catherine,
Thanks for sharing!!! Have fun on your hunt!!

Tried and True

Haha... I didn't bag one this weekend but will be back out again this weekend and next week.

I believe it Catherine!

Hi Catherine!
You will really enjoy this trip. I look forward to seeing your pictures when you return.
Good luck with the hunt!
Kyle Ann

Hi Kyle Ann, I didn't actually take any snaps this weekends as my hands and pockets were full with hunting gear. Next weekend should be a little bit more leisurely, so I will try and get some for you. I have attached a few of my favourites from a previous trip of where I will be next weekend. Hope you like them and take care.

OMG! What a beautiful place! You could pick out the best 12 and make calendars. I did that one year for my guy from pictures taken where he hunts and he liked it.
Happy Hunting! And thank you for being so thoughtful to send me the pictures. You’re a gem!
KyleAnn

have a fun trip

Thank you!
